The day your mother received that letter was the start of one of the worst and best moments of your life. The contents were as stated

" Queen Aelsa,
I hope this letter finds you in good health. I wish to discuss matters concerning Princess (Y/n) of Alfheim and my son Prince Loki of Asgard. It has come to my attention that while our kingdoms remain in good standing with each other that tensions are on the rise with conflict concerning Svartalfheim. I would like to create a formal peace treaty with Alfheim to ensure no danger comes to either of our kingdoms. To solidify this treaty and unite us in harmony I offer the hand of my son Prince Loki of Asgard to be wed to your, Princess (Y/n) of Alfheim.
Odin Borson, King of Asgard"

Of course your mother was simply overjoyed at the opportunity to have a place like Asgard as an ally in case of war. You've been to Asgard before, meeting both the princes but only as children. You'd always had a small crush on Loki though to this day you'd never admit it. Regardless, marriage was the last thing you wanted to do right now.

Your mother didn't hesitate to reply to Odin, agreeing with the idea and informing you to pack your belongings, that you'd be traveling by Asgard's bifrost come nightfall.

"Oh (Y/n) this will be great for you! I'm sure you don't remember as it was a few hundred years ago but you always got along great with Prince Loki. And I hear he's grown into quite the handsome Prince as well." Your mother tried to make you feel better as she helped you gather your things. Typically it would be a handmaid's job but seeing as she wouldn't see you much after this night and your imminent wedding she wanted to spend time with you while she could.

Nightfall came faster than you thought it would, a knot of nerves settled in your stomach as the time came to make your way outside. The letter had held some instructions for traveling by bifrost as it was rare that anyone not from Asgard did. You both stepped outside and looked to the night sky, burning the image of your home's starry sky for a final time before your mother called to the stars.

"Heimdall, we're ready now."  And after only a moment of tense hesitation the ground was suddenly lifted from your feet, you flew through the rainbow looking tube, until finally your feet hit solid ground once more.

"Welcome to Asgard Queen Aelsa, Princess (Y/n)." A man with golden eyes that matched his armor stood before you.

"Queen Aelsa, Princess (Y/n) thank you for joining us here, please allow me to escort you to the palace." A muscular man with blonde hair and armor spoke. It took me a second but it all clicked into place.

"Thor? Is that you?"

"Indeed it is Princess, you're even more beautiful now than when we were small. It is good seeing you again." He took your hand in his and kissed it.

"Please just call me (Y/n).  And I can definitely say the same for you." You pulled him into a hug recalling the fond memories you shared as kids.

"Very well Lady (Y/n), if you would both please follow me." He handled all of your luggage with ease even though both you and your mother struggled with them.

You and Thor both made small talk as you walked, your mother was glad you'd found a familiar face. She finally spoke up once you and Thor had fallen silent.

"So Prince Thor, where is the man of the hour? I'm sure (Y/n) would like to see the man she is to wed sometime before the wedding."

"Loki is very stubborn, but he shall come around. The last I'd heard he had not come out of his chambers. We will be having a feast tonight to commemorate their courtship and he is required to attend. So I assure you you shall see him tonight." He set the bags down as he spoke, stopping right in front of a large golden gate, the entrance to the palace. He placed his hand on your shoulder as he spoke.
