Today, Monami had an interview; she was applying for the pastry chef position at a new restaurant that opened recently.

She carried the fresh fruit she just purchased back to her apartment. Her roommates, Koel and Sanjana had just gotten out of bed.

In regards to Koel, they have known each other since their first day of first class in school. At that time, Monami and Koel would walk hand-in-hand to school every single day. Although they were neighbors who lived right next to each other, because the two of them were so similar in every single way, they had never been taught by their families the concept of 'usse kuch sikho?'

While her other roommate Sanjana. She was quite the opposite of them.

It was worth mentioning that her parents called her Sanju while the children of her age at that time called her Sanju dada because of her bullying. Seeing this, her parents started calling her Sanjana so that she can have some gentleness. To tell the truth, nobody of these three knew how they became friends.

The three of them were each other's angel for over ten years. Even though they had graduated college and begun working, they still squeezed into a small, run-down apartment.

And the fact that even then Sanjana was the only one with a boyfriend among the three. Well the boyfriend being Monami's brother who loved being bullied was a different point.

And well Koel, Since she was a child, each and every boy she liked——she never had a successful confession with a single one of them. As Monami would say, she had perfected the '100% Rejected-when-Confessing' skill.

...Growing up was always painful.

Monami placed the strawberries in a salt-water solution to soak them. She was beginning to make the cake required for the interview later today. Sanjana washed her face and rinsed her mouth in the bathroom before walking to the kitchen to help Monami by cheering her on. "Monu! Succeed or die trying! You know rent day is coming.. aur woh makan malik phir se aa kar chilayega..

Monami viciously glared at her. "As I have said for seven years, whoever calls me Monu, Maine usse Zinda gadna hai!"

"I believe this line has already passed its expiration date. " Koel who had just came easily snatched a strawberry and slipped the berry in her mouth. Her eyes closed in satisfaction, creasing in delight. "Sure enough, seasonal fruit is the tastiest!"

"Aur nahi toh kya.. main Sanju, tu Monu aur ye.. Koo.."

"Dekh.. baki Sab okk hai.. Sanju but Koo nahi bula mujhe"

"Why, babe bcoz it was called by that person.."

"Who was one of the people who friendzoned her.." Monami completed Sanju's sentence giggling while at the same time, she grabbed the ready-made flour dough and preheated the oven. She slapped Sanjana's hand when she had reached out to grab a strawberry.

"Ohh.. I am hurt, Monu.. you didn't stop Koel from eating strawberry"

"Maybe because she doesn't call me Monu" Monami spoke but then asked "Didn't we have to hand in the rent?  Why aren't you going to work quickly? Iska samajh aata hai.. she had off"

Koel picked up the plate of sliced bread Monami had prepared from the table and walked over to sit down on the sofa.

"Our magazine publisher's base salary is extremely low. I'm not very passionate about my work. If the pay doesn't increase, I plan on quitting. "

Monami's eyes widened. If she truly resigned, this house would have two unemployed people! "You absolutely must not be impulsive. As Alfred Delp has said, 'Work like you do not need money at all!'"
