Part 10: Bakery - Sweetheart, still in bed ah?

Continuing from the last part,

Monami burst into laughter at what Koel and Sanju said. She took a while to laugh it out, then stood up from the sofa. “I’m going to take a shower first then head to bed. It’s been a long day today, you both should go sleep too.”　

“Okay.” Sanju shortly responded. She hesitated a bit but still asked, “Monu, do you still like Ishaan?”

Monami turned her head around then raised her brows, “I think he and Mihika suit each other quite well.”

Koel gave her a gesture of approval. “Mujhe bhi yehi lagta hain..”

Three of them grinned at each other, Monami suddenly felt a little more comforted. In this era of fire, theft and best friends, to be able to meet Koel and Sanju, it really was a blessing.

That night, Monami had good dreams. Director Goyal, however, would be waking up to bad news.

“Dismissed? Mujhe bina koi reason ke kaise dismiss kar sakte ho?" Director Goyal shouted from inside the HR department manager’s office. His hands gripping his dismissal letter, personally handed to him by Balla.

“bina kisi reason ke?” Balla lightly laughed out, “You should know best what you’ve done.”

Director Goyal’s expression swiftly changed, he then innocently asked Balla, “Aur aisa kya kiya hain maine?”

Balla stood up from the sofa and walked right up to him. “acha hai puch lua.. waise bhi Mujhe bhi koi shauk nahi h ki tum par apna time waste kru.. isliye sidha point ki baat karte h.. Mihika Goyal from S University is your relative, it doesn’t matter whether she was influencing you or if you were purely trying to defend her, this was all for your personal reasons. During the interview, you deliberately accused Monami, preventing her from entering Shergill's. As a Personnel Director, to do something so unprofessional, company ko nahi lagta ki tum iss post par rehne k liye layak ho." 

Director Goyal’s face went white. It was indeed Mihika who had asked him to do that as a favour, but he thought it’d just be a small issue. Never did he think the company would personally investigate him this far.

He bit down on his lip and looked at Balla, “Mihika  is indeed my niece. Usne mujhe Monami k baare me btaya tha. She was the one who told me about Monami’s plagiarism. However, you can’t just use this to judge my character, Monami had definitely plagiarised, mujhe nahi lagta aap iss basis par mujhe judge kar sakte hain."

Balla laughed, “Whether or not Monami had plagiarised should have been none of your concern. Not to mention the police always gives a person in custody a chance to represent themselves. You didn’t even want to listen to her side of the story, are you sure there was nothing personal involved? The Personnel department is an important part of this company, we need someone who can execute more professional judgments.”

He walked out right after. Director Goyal shouted out after him, “mujhe KS se milna hain." 

“Our deepest apologies, KS is not at the office today.” Balla looked back at him, “The Finance department tumhe 3 weeks ki extra salary dega, isliye behtar yehi hoga ki tum abhi izzat se nikal jao.. agar ab koi problem create Kari then, I’ll have to call security to escort you out.”

Director Goyal’s mouth twitched but he said no more.

Monami was still sleeping soundly during all this. Her phone next to her head suddenly started to ring, kicking her whole body into shock. She fumbled around for her phone, her eyes struggling to open, and picked up the phone, “…Hello, who is it?”
