Chapter 17: A New Villain Emerges

It's been 8 months since the confrontation between Amoux and Soulblade. It was pretty clear that the long friendship between them was over. One night, there was a gang wearing face paint in the subway vandalizing and stealing people's properties. "Come on, grab the goods and let's get out of here!" said the gang leader. Suddenly, there was clanking. "Who's there?!" called out the leader. Then, Amoux emerges and takes down the criminals but was he was brutally attacking them. He then leaves the scene as the police officers arrived and took the criminals into custody. Meanwhile, the Parr family were watching the news about last night. "Wendy here with some breaking news. Last night a gang was caught stealing and vandalizing property until Amoux came into the scene. The only difference...was that this is NOT the Amoux we've seen before." said Wendy as they show photos of the chaos Amoux left. "Even though he stopped the criminals, they had to be taken to the hospital. We just hope that Amoux doesn't endanger the city with his change." said the chief. The Parrs were in shock. "Oh no." said Bob. "This is horrible!" said Helen. Violet and Michael were silent and did not say a word. Then Dicker calls them. "Bob...did he find out?" asked Rick. Bob sighed deeply. "Yes. Yes he did. What do we do now?" asked Bob. "I don't know. I don't know what to do." said Dicker. "This just in! An emerging villain is now at large. The suspect is currently unknown. The suspect claimed to play mind games with those certain people. The suspect had slain the mayor at his home and left a message, taunting not the police, but to Amoux. The family of the mayor invites everyone to the city to the funeral to pay their respects tomorrow. Wendy with your news." said Wendy as Bob turned the T.V off. "Things are messed up now! Chris is going insane and now the villain is unknown and he's in the city playing mind games with him. Things are bad right now." said Dash. "We need to put an end to this guy's tricks and then if we're lucky...we can try to talk to Chris. We'll head to the city in an hour for a lookout and tomorrow, we'll head for the funeral." said Helen. Meanwhile, Chris returned home where his girlfriend, Carla, awaited him. "Hey babe." said Carla. "Hey, sweetie." said Chris as he kissed her. Carla was nearly 8 months pregnant and until she gave birth, Chris decided to have her stay home until then. "Are you feeling alright?" asked Carla. "I'm fine. I just had to take out some anger on some crooks that were up to no good and now there's a villain on the loose. Playing mind games with me." said Chris as Carla hugged him from behind. "It's okay. He's in the city. He won't be a bother to us." said Carla as they both kissed. "*Sigh* When our baby comes, I think it will be time to go off the grid for a while. I don't wanna risk losing you or our child. I think it's best we go to the funeral to pay our respects to the mayor." said Chris. Meanwhile, the Incredibles explored the city, hunting for the villain hiding in the streets but there was no sign of him. Little did they know, the villain was hiding out on a roof, watching them with an evil smirk on its face. The next morning, the entire city gets ready for the mayor's funeral. Chris and Carla got ready and slowly drove to the city. "It feels strange coming back here." said Carla. "I know. But we're just here for the funeral." said Chris. They soon arrived at the church for the funeral. Everyone was gathering in their seats. "Babe? What if we see them?" asked Carla as Chris knew who she was talking about. "Just stay quiet." said Chris. Meanwhile, the Parr family entered the church. "Wow, that's a whole lot of people for a funeral." said Dash. Michael and Violet look until suddenly they see Chris and Carla talking. "Oh no." said Violet. "What is it?" asked Helen. "They're here." said Michael as Helen and Bob saw the couple. "Maybe this could be an opportunity to talk to them and tell him the truth." said Bob. "That can wait. Right now, we're at a funeral. Let's pay our respects." said Helen. Chris and Carla went near the coffin and paid their respects. "Wonder what the city will do with the mayor's situation." said Carla. "They'll think of something." said Chris. Suddenly, there was screaming coming from outside. Everyone looked around, wondering what was going on. As Chris looked, he looked up the balcony seeing everyone leave but one figure staring at him. He glares at him as suddenly a car comes through the doors at blazing speed. Chris turns and sees Carla. He sprints to her and manages to save her without harming the baby. "Are you okay?" asked Chris. "Yeah. I'm fine. Thanks." said Carla as she softly chuckled and Chris smiled. Police then surround the vehicle. "Get out of the car and show your hands!" said the lieutenant. But as a cop slowly approaches the vehicle and sees no one in the front seat but a bomb. "Get back! There's a bomb!" said the cop as everyone got as far as they could. Then...a phone rang and the cop looks and sees a sign on the back on the car that says "For Amoux". "Clear this place out now!" said the chief as everyone evacuated.  Chris glared as he saw his name on the letter. "Let's go home." said Chris as he and Carla returned home. "Wendy here with your news. As the city gathered for the Mayor's funeral, it was interrupted by a car, driven by no one. It was reported a bomb and phone was in the vehicle. Finally, there was a note strapped on the vehicle and apparently Amoux is being called out by the villain. Leaving everyone to wonder, what will happen?" said Wendy as the T.V off goes off. "Are you okay?" asked Carla as she massaged his shoulders. "It might be him. That bomb will go off if I don't show up. I have to answer the call." said Chris. "Well, I'm going with you." said Carla as she grabbed his arm. "No. You can't come with me." said Chris. "But...this is my fight too." said Carla. "Carla, baby, I love you. But right now, there is a bomb in there and who know it can be a setup. Plus, I want you and the baby to be safe." said Chris as Carla looks down in tears. "I don't want to lose you." said Carla as she held his face. "Please...for me and our child...be safe." said Carla as she kissed him before he left. He made it to the church. "Amoux!" called the chief as Amoux approached him. "Chief! Has anything happened?" he asked. "No. Not yet at least." said the chief. Amoux took a deep breath. "Ok, I'm going in." said Amoux as he entered the church. The phone was still ringing. He answered and a man in a wolf mask answered. "You came. I've been trying to reach you." said the villain. "Who are you?" asked Amoux. "Someone you know from your past." said he replied. "My past?" asked Amoux. "Yes...and I want you to know that soon, I'll be coming after you and your girlfriend." said the villain as he growled. "If you do anything to her...your a dead man." said Amoux as the villain laughed. "Seems I got you heated enough. Goodbye." he said as suddenly the bomb went off, sending him flying into the chairs. Everyone who was watching this live gasped as they see fire from the church. Amoux regained conscious as he sees fire on the stage of the church. Firefighters arrived and put out the fire. Amoux gasped. "Carla." he said as he quickly heads home, where Carla awaits her. "Chris!" said Carla as they both embraced each other, tightly. "Are you okay?" she asked. "I'm fine. He told me he knows me, about you. He threatened to kill you." said Chris as he slowly shed tears. The couple would then hug once more. Meanwhile, the Parrs were at home and were in silent after seeing the talk between Amoux and this unknown villain. "We need to do something." said Violet. Everyone looks at her. "What can we do, Vi? Us and the police has looked everywhere in the city for this guy. No sign of him." said Dash. "Well Dash, if we don't do something, things will keep getting worse and this guy will have the city in the palm of his hand." said Bob. Michael sighed and stood. "Vi's right. We need to stop him. If were gonna hunt this guy...were gonna need help." said Michael. "Michael's right. We need Chris and Carla's help on this." said Violet.
