NOTE: I ended up changing the whole family thing to social related issues to make this book more fluffy. I updated the last chapter to align with this narrative :)
"What?" Shu's eyes were narrowed. "What are you saying?"
The truth was, there were only a few things you needed to get into Yumenosaki Academy. Money, talent, or both. So you could technically narrow it down to a few talented people and just put those on display, but in truth the majority of the population was full of rich kids. You were one of the people that had no particular talent to flaunt. The other people at the academy were wealthy, but you stood at the pinnacle in terms of that, causing people to commonly try to grow closer with you for that sake. If anyone came at you with any sort of aggression, you would have to simply ask for forgiveness and leave the situation at that. Some people forgave you– others didn't.
The expression on Shu's face, of course, was complete shock. After all, you had displayed practically no remorse this whole time and then suddenly apologized— anyone would be surprised.
"I shouldn't have been so aggressive. It's my fault. Well then, let's try to get out of here."
You tried to dismiss the topic but he kept pushing at it, being surprisingly persistent due to the fact you had only known him for a very short period of time. "Your sudden change in mindset is very intriguing, girl. I daresay that you are now obligated to entertain the idea of assisting me if you feel so indebted to me."
"Indebted? Well, that's not really what I–"
"Non! You made up your mind when you decided to utter those words to me with such a pitiable expression on your face. It is too late for you to go back now," Shu spoke in words as smooth as honey, his extraordinary way of speaking almost mesmerizing.
"I–"
"There is no use in refusing. It is pointless to make haste on such an important matter. For the success of my future career, I would like to have some practice," Shu said, "and you are the perfect candidate."
"It's for your career?" you tilted your head to the side. While Shu was obviously a man with high aspirations, you hadn't known what career path he wanted to go down. It was obvious that it had something to do with the arts but it seemed like he was aiming for something extremely grandiose.
"Yes, as you know we are both graduating soon," Shu spoke nonchalantly, "and I would like to go abroad to France as I have always loved all forms of art, particularly European culture."
Ah, I'm envious. You felt a bitter smile make its way to your face, thankful that the dark would cover it up completely. I wish I was passionate about something like he is.
Almost as if he could read your thoughts, the following words he said practically tore into your plight. "Perhaps entering into my world would allow you to find a greater purpose in life."
