Why?Shu could think of nothing but that. He cursed the world, he cursed the school, he cursed fine, he cursed Eichi Tenshouin. Yes, that's right. It was all his fault. Tenshouin ruined everything. He made his beautiful, beautiful world fall into ruin and decay. He was nothing but falsity.
Pressing the blanket tighter against his frame, Shu glanced down at the doll in his arms– but to him, she was no mere doll. Staring at her unblinking eyes, he felt a deep wash of decadence overcome him. Perhaps if he instead entrusted that feeling to this doll, it would change reality. He would wake up and this dream would be over.
After all, his beautiful world could never come to an end...
"It's all his fault! It's all Tenshouin's fault!" he cursed the man to no end, his shock overwhelming rationality as he continued to tumble into a state of despair.
. . .
"Nonono, any real number squared is just that number times two," you sighed, trying to explain to the brown-haired boy next to you how basic arithmetic works. You had been partnered up with Chiaki today for this assignment, and he was staring down at the paper with furrowed eyebrows.
"I see, a 'square... root...'" he nodded to himself. "I shall dedicate it to memory!"
You couldn't help but let out yet another sigh at his words. A square root and squaring a number are two different things... It was hard enough having to work with him, but of course it had to be on math, which was apparently his worst subject. Although you harbored no negative feelings towards Chiaki, he could sometimes go a bit overboard at such an early hour in the morning.
It's better than working with Eichi or Shu... You thought to yourself, seeing that the two of them had been paired up for this assignment. Well, they were supposed to be... Shu had crammed his desk as far away from the student council president's as he possibly could. The teacher of this very rare algebra class made no complaint, simply shoving a few pocky sticks in his mouth and reading a magazine.
"Morisawa, do you think you'll be able to solve this one?" you pointed to one of the simpler problems.
"Of course!" Chiaki nodded and pumped his fist in the air, looking very motivated.
At least he isn't apathetic.
"Alright then, let's do this!" you tried to get caught up in his energy and continued the worksheet. There were only twenty problems, and in fifteen minutes you two had managed to knock them out. Chiaki had surprisingly managed to answer around twenty percent of the questions correctly, alleviating some burden from your eighty percent. He was a very chatty person that some would consider annoying, but it was easy to tell that he wasn't a bad person at all. In fact, he seemed incredibly 'pure,' by the definition of the word.
