Nico's Pov

While I was eating I thought about what I was going to do and how I would make money because I would have to be dead before I spend another night in this so called orphanage. I mean it's so loud and it's only what I guess to be around 9 in the morning, I would have better luck surviving on the streets at this point. And the condition of the place in it's self makes me believe no health inspection had been done in over a decade at the least. I mean rust seems to be the only type of metal this place has, and just by looking around outside now that it's day time I can tell that the rest of the street has the same style.

The possibility of someone actually hiring me and not scamming me is literally impossible, I mean I have little no no education and absolutely no record of ever existing in this time period. The only other people who would even consider hiring someone like me would probably be sketchy businesses looking for someone who had no connections to anyone so if something were to happen to them no one would notice.

Well maybe I should first think about my living situation. Like just walking to the library and orphanage I saw so many abandoned buildings and where-houses, the only problem is finding one not occupied by criminals or homeless people it would just be safer to find a place where there were no occupants, but I can worry about that when I get to one first. Like I would prefer an apartment but I've got no money at the moment so the abandoned building lifestyle will only be temporary hopefully.

Leaving was surprisingly or not so surprisingly easy, all I had to say was that I was getting money for the orphanage which apparently the workers seemed to think that I was good enough reason to let an underage boy leave without a worker, pretty stupid huh? Anyway I walked for a bit in till I saw an abandoned building but I didn't really want people to see 14 yr old kid (I did look it up on Ricks' character profile page on his author website) going to an abandoned building, can never be too careful, so I looked for an ally to go down and shadow travel into the building.

I appeared in  the corner of a room and heard voices in the next room, thank the gods I shadow travelled into a corner and not the centre of the room like I do sometimes when I'm going to a mostly dark area. I could of just shadow travelled out but because that would be the smart thing to do, but I was really curious in what they were discussing, so I stayed, and as much as I complain about getting put in danger I was also pretty bored of the lack of adrenalin rush I got on the regular day-to-day basis.

"The deal will be done in 3 days, but we can't trust that the joker will not scam us out of our resources again," said an authoritative voice. I wonder who this person is, I was going to see who was talking because I saw a couple mug shots of well known villains while looking on the computer, plus I memorized them in case I saw the villains on the street, I guess back then I was planning on avoiding criminals because I thought monsters would be enough to deal with but they don't seem to be spawning in Gotham at all.

Next time I get a chance I should ask my Farther why I haven't seen any monsters. But besides that this seemed interesting as I don't know too much about the criminals personalities which I would consider a good thing to know , so that if I get taken or 'am in the wrong place at the wrong time I can maybe stall a bit by playing into their personalities and ideals.

"So boss what do you suggest," said someone else around a table of who I'm guessing are the goons and the head operator or whatever. "We will set up more security in the area and have them patrol a day before the deal as to not get jumped again. No one will fool the Penguin twice in a row." The now identified villain as Penguin said with confidence. "But boss what about the snitch everyone's been talking about , we just shouldn't take the risk," the same goon said again, by the familiarity of how he is speaking I'm guess he has been with penguin for a long time.

"True but how could we find this out, maybe we should get someone to find out for us there would be a reward of course but we also don't want a double spy working for us, so we would have to get someone who accepted to be payed after the deal," Penguin stated "Someone like that will definitely be hard to come by." When I heard that there would be a reward I knew I could greatly benefit from a job like this. But do I really want to help a group of villains who I'm sure have very faded morals. But on the other hand getting info would be very easy for me. I mean the scare factor has worked wonders before, and it's not like I'll make a habit of helping villains once I'm financially stable.

Guess I've got some people to scar and stalk, fun...

-Time Skip-

Now when I tell you that it took some time to find the Joker's whereabouts, I mean it took almost all the time I had. I mean I was only going on what people were telling me once I had them tied up in a warehouse, and that was risky just because they could lie, but none of them seemed that way, the way they talked gave it away that they weren't lying. Like it's surprising how quickly people give info once you eliminate the knowledge of how far away they are from there home, where they are and not knowing who I am because in a way this is basically my debut, no that makes it sound like I'm going to stay in the profession? Would this be called a profession actually, well obviously not a legal one. But any who I found out the location of the Joker through trial and error and I mean many trial's and error's, honestly I know I just said people crack under not knowing what's happening but still I guess some of them must've be compulsive liars which I guess wouldn't be too far fetched of an idea, but still it was bloody annoying.

Although some of the looks I got when I was asking them to tell me where the Joker lived was hilarious. I mean I get that even with my face covered I am still shorter than some but still, it can't really be that strange for someone to come looking for the Joker guy. But anyway here I am I guess I should do what I came here to do.

"Hahaha, ok now that was a great joke, keeping peace with Penguin? I mean he will always come back to me~" a crazed voice came from the infamous Joker in the middle of the warehouse. I was in the shadowed corner I had only caught the laughing because I didn't hear what one of his hench men said, but I get make a pretty good guess of what he said. "I mean he needs me" the Joker continued, now was the good bit the bit that would get me my reward once I turn the information over to Penguin. "We will simply be planting bombs and traps all around for all to see, oh doesn't that just sound like the best amusement for after a good deal~" Joker said in a sing song kind of voice that sent chills down peoples backs. "Plus I would say it would be a bit of a surprise when he learns that he has been tricked! Fooled! into thinking I had a spy. I mean yes the betrayal would be everything! But seeing people explode, now that is even better ahahaha!" Oh how wonder, I think I know why so many people were so surprised I was looking for the Joker, this guy is absolutely insane. I mean at least I got the information needed for me to get an apartment to live in.

-Time Skip-

With the information I had gathered from the Joker I shadow travelled back to Penguins location when I had over heard his conversation. And I mean obviously I had stayed long enough to see and memorize all the areas where the bombs and traps were going to be set up. Because Penguin would have to be ridiculously stupid to not ask for the locations of said traps and I have a feeling Penguin will be less likely to give me a reward if I didn't have this information. But I wasn't just going to give this information for free he would have to ask for it first, no need giving info when it wasn't asked for, and that I think is what I will stick too no matter the client. But anyway I think it's safe to say that I will be asking Penguin to tell his fellow 'partners' about me, got to get clients from good reviews haven't I now.
