Ghost King and Batfam

Pt. 3

3rd Pov 

As Nico was walking down the busy streets he saw a McDonald's up ahead and starting jogging towards it, as the shadow travel to Gotham had taken a lot out of him and Nico didn't want to waste his ambrosia, in case of a monster attack. You learn pretty quickly as a demigod to never waste ambrosia. Although he is quite suspicious about the fact that he has not seen or heard any monsters in the time that he was on the streets. And mind you  Nico has noticed large amounts of technology being used, so by now he should already been surrounded by monsters, but yet here he was peacefully ordering his McDonald's, something had to be up it was too quite to Nico too suspicious that he was being able to get a nice healthy meal with little to no interruptions.

When Nico had sat down with his food he overheard people in the seat behind him going on about someone who called themselves Batman? Who would want to be called 'Batman' I mean what does it stand for a guy who likes bats? Or someone who just asked a kid with a bat toy to give them a name. But besides that, the more Nico listened to them the more he realized that he was so out of date with what was happening around the world right now. I mean he had been trapped in time for 70 years and then spent the last couple of summers helping save the world. So yea he was quite lost when they started saying that a crazy clown had just been put back into the Arkham Asylum by the apparently famous Batman. Nico finally came to the realization that he should know about this 'Batman' and 'Joker' person. So he decided that he would test out his theory about monsters in Gotham. Because since Nico has arrived in Gotham not a single monster has bothered him and Nico was really desperate to understand modern media and what has and is happening in the world. I mean the more he knows the more likely Nico is to survive in Gotham.

Nico's Pov

Once I had finished my food I decided that I would try to find a library. Cause once  I had heard Annabeth saying that ever since library's had put in  public laptops in the building, studying became to much harder as monsters kept on showing up to attack her.

I had found a library and I saw the most technology I had ever seen in one room. I didn't really know where to start looking, like how was I suppose to get onto what was called 'google', and did one start a computer...just as I was about walk further into the library a woman from behind a counter I hadn't noticed before spoke up.

"Hi, are you alright kid?", I didn't really know what to say as I was caught off guard like what do people usually say well I didn't know. But I  spoke up and please I have no idea what possessed me to just speak the truth but I ended up saying. "Uhh how do I log onto the computers...?"

The look this woman gave me was blank and thrown off for a second which then changed into sadness as she fully took in my worn down appearance and probably guess I had never been able to access a computer before. Considering how many homeless kids I have seen since appearing in Gotham she probably guess I am also a homeless kid (which I am) who just now was able to get into possession of some money. 

"Um how about I come around and help show you, I'll just have get one of my co-workers to man the desk real quick" as she started to move I realised she was in a wheel chair which made me feel so bad about making her do extra movement, but before I could argue "Don't try and argue I'm happy to help" she said happy enough for me to believe she wasn't just taking pity on me. "Alright then" was all I could say. This woman had a very strong heir to her self despite being wheel chair bound which impressed me quite a bit she must have some very strong will and power in her, but man I really need to figure out her name, I mean I can't just keep referring to her as 'This/that woman'. "Miss I'm really sorry but what is your name, I know you have a name tag but I'm not the best with reading" I hated saying this out loud, absolutely hated it but I had too and this woman was by far the nicest person I had come across in this city so far. "Oh...don't worry my names Barbara" Barbara answered, her voice didn't seem mocking so my assumption on her being nice was starting to become fact slowly.
