doyeon

the hardest part of the day had approached: lunch.

doyeonhad a gut feeling that she would see taehyun today in the cafeteria, but she wouldn't let that stop her from sitting with her friends and eating.

but as she headed to the lunch room, she felt a gentle hand tug a little on her arm. she turned to find out who it was, only to find a cautiously smiling soobin staring at her from underneath his lashes.

"hey, doyeon. i was wondering if you wanted to sit outside with me today? talk? or not talk if you don't want to, i mean i would totally understand if-"

"soobin. it's okay. we can talk." she consented.

how could she not when he was rambling like an adorable idiot?

"oh, okay. cool." he replied, attempting to hide his smile and failing miserably.

they walked outside together, doyeon wrapping her arms around herself when she felt the cool wind brush her face and hair. they walked a few feet apart, neither one talking. it was awkward.

doyeon felt horrible for the harsh words she had exchanged with him. in the hallway when he commented about how easy it was to get over her, she knew he was only saying it to irk her older brother. she knew he cared deeply about her.

when she came home after breaking up with tae, she spoke especially cruel to him because she couldn't face the fact that she shouldn't have dated tae in the first place. he was never the one for her.

so she decided to let soobin talk and try to get out what he needed to say.

they hadn't seriously talked in a while, and, despite her want to separate herself from him, she had to admit that she missed him terribly.

they sat down in the grass a little bit away from everyone else.

"i, um, wanted to apologise for everything i've done this year. i've been, well, horrible to you and your brothers and, honestly, everyone. i regret that."

"soob." she began, but he cut her off.

"i'm not done, doyeon. i do regret the bad things i've done but i don't ever regret telling you how i feel. showing you how i feel. those feelings haven't gone away, yeon. i've loved you for a long time, i love you now, and i'll love you for as long as you'll let me. love doesn't have to be some huge disaster. it can be beautiful. let me show you how beautiful it can be." he continued.

doyeon's heart melted in her chest.

"soob..."

"and if you don't think that i can be the right guy for you, let me show you. you don't have to love me right now, doyeon. let me earn your love. that's all i want. a chance. because i'm catastrophically in love with you."

"soobin. let me talk." she replied, trying to hide the tears escaping her eyes.

he nodded with a big gulp of nerves and not restraining his glassy eyes.

"it's true that you've done some horrible things to me. to others. but you're human, soob. we all make mistakes when we're hurting. and that was the most beautiful thing anyone's ever said to me. i- i want to give you a chance." she answered him.

"oh my god! is this really happening?" he exclaimed, an unmatched glee filled his eyes. his hands were reaching for hers in an instant.

"i'll prove myself to you, yeon. whatever you want, whatever you need, i'll be that for you. i'll do anything." he finished.

"you don't have to be anyone or do anything, soob. just be yourself. that's all i want." she promised.

"and i'll try to hold back as many 'i love you's as i can, but seriously it's going to be really hard." he laughed.
