After the friends finished up their dinner at the diner, Robin brought up the sleepover again like she had earlier.
Steve's face knotted into a wince, "No can do"
"What? Why?" asked Robin
Steve explained, "I don't really do 'girls nights' in pajamas with like sweet emotional talks and vinyls and carebears and..."
Nancy interrupted him, "Who...who said anything about carebears? Did you say anything about carebears?"
Robin put her hands up, "I didn't say anything about carebears"
Nancy furrowed her brow, "No one said anything about carebears"
"Okay whatever, you get my point. I had fun. Next time let's catch a movie. If you two wanna go hang the. you should. Think it'd be a nice bonding experience" said Steve
Nancy inhaled sharply, "We're bonded...I mean not like-ummm..."
Steve started laughing, "I love how you said 'we're bonded' like that! Like you two are dogs that got introduced to each other or something! Okay but if you girls were animals, Robin would most definitely be a golden retreiver and Nancy would be one of those big-ass cats"
"Excuse me?!" Nancy exclaimed
"No! I mean the Maine Coone type, cause your hair is so brown curly and like a Maine Coone? You have Maine Coone eyes" stammered Steve
Robin nodded, "Yeah Steve, I think you've worked the big brain enough today. Might want to call it a night"
"Yeah, you're right. Definitely right. I'm gonna call it a night. But you girls," he pointed between them, "Have fun!"
Nancy flashed a wide smile, "Okay, bye-bye Steve!"
Steve looked around in confusion, "Oh. As in right now? Leaving now? I could do that too"
"No, you don't have to go now. We can talk for a bit" said Nancy
"Good. Cause I have nowhere to be after this. Do you though, Nancy? With Johnathon?" asked Steve
Nancy sighed, "No, definitely not. We broke up this morning"
"What?" gasped Steve and Robin at the same time
"Why are you both so shocked? Did it really look like we were doing that good?" asked Nancy
Robin hugged Nancy from the side, "I'm so sorry, Nance. Yeah, I really thought everything was going good between you too"
"No, I knew it was bound to happen. Your relationship with him was shit" remarked Steve
Robin looked at him flabbergasted as she held Nancy's shoulders, "Gosh, Steve. What the hell?"
"What? She asked! I'm glad you two broke up. He kinda creeps me out" admitted Steve
"Okay but you don't need to say that in front of her after they just broke up" said Robin
Nancy giggled, wiping a tear, "It's okay, Robin. It's actually kinda helpful to hear him talk crap about him"
"Oh really? Cause I have a lot of things I could say about him too. He's a douchebag and he definitely did not deserve you. Anyone who would let you go is an idiot" Robin said, genuinely
Nancy smiled shyly at her and her gaze nervously flickered down. Looking into Robin's eyes was just too intense for her
Steve raised his eyebrows, "An idiot huh, Robin?"
"Well technically she let you go, Steve" shrugged Robin
Steve nodded, "Fair"
Robin gently inquired, "Do you want to tell us what happened?"
