"Brother, who is that Sandwing staring at us?"
Winter, after a moments delay, dragged his eyes away from his meal, already knowing who it was. Qibli noticed Winter looking straight at him. His reaction was immediate - he pretended to act like he was busy.
"My clawmate," he replied finally, "I met him a little while ago. I don't know what to think of him, but he isn't awful." Winter complimented nonchalantly so Icicle wouldn't suspect how significant the Sandwing was about to become in his life.
-------
Winter approached Icicle and sat beside her on the stalactite. There was barely enough room for the two of them, but neither complained nor budged to accommodate, they just sat in tense close quarters.
Icicle nodded in greeting and the two Icewings found themselves fall into an uneasy but not unfamiliar silence as they ate. Out of nowhere, Icicle asked accusingly

His sister wrinkled her snout, "Sandwings are vile. I'm just glad that all I got stuck with is a boring Mudwing." she concluded, before adding as though she'd forgotten, "and a Skywing."
Winter nodded and acted like he was listening to her as other Icewings began to form in a group around their ledge. In reality, his eyes were absent-mindedly trained on Qibli.
Maybe QIBLI had Nightwing powers, for how else could he be infiltrating my mind like this? Winter mused to himself
Icicle had finished talking - realizing that her brother was not paying attention, she turned her own gaze onto the sea of dragons of all colors.
Winter watched as Qibli talked with a Rainwing dragonet they had seen with Moon earlier. The Rainwing held a piece of fruit to Qiblis face, and he took a step back with an intense cringe contorting his features. Winter smiled despite himself, wishing he could have heard THAT conversation.
Icicle eyed her brother and thought he was staring at the Rainwing instead of Qibli (though that wouldn't have been much better.) and felt herself brimming with a loathing for him and his unreadable thoughts. Finally, she stood, light reflecting from her pristine scales. She announced that she was returning to her cave.
"I'll come with you." Winter decided, also standing beside her. He did NOT want to be left alone in a place as unorganized and dysfunctional as this.
"Whatever," she huffed, already seeming exasperated with him, "Just don't expect me to humor your conversations."
Winter nodded and the pair of glamorous Icewings swept from the dining hall.
As they passed Qibli and the Rainwing, Qibli shot him a knowing wink and the Rainwing flushed a light pink at seeing Winter. This earned an amused nudge from Icicle and Winter rolled his eyes. He couldn't imagine wearing his emotions like that constantly. He glanced away without any further acknowledgement.
When Icicle and he arrived at the hallway leading to their sleeping caves, Icicle glanced his way and casually asked, "Would you like to write to mother tonight? I can have a messenger here by tomorrow to deliver it."
