Moon looked up at Winter with kindness and empathy written on her face.

"I think it's okay to be honest with yourself and admit your feelings." she offered cryptically

"What is that supposed to mean?"

-------

Winter paced the corridors slowly, taking in all the decorations strewn around. It was like a mosaic of all the different tribes combined, and Winter found himself wondering what decorations were inspired from what tribe.

Focus. He snapped himself back to attention

He took his time carefully examining the layout of the school as quietly as he could. he did not want to interact with any other dragons at this hour - or ever, just in general.

Occasionally, he threw a glance over his shoulder, half expecting to see Qibli grinning at him reassuringly, but he was betrayed every time he looked.

As Winter finally rounded the corner back to the sleeping caves, he was too impatient and tired to wait for his companion to return. He was just about to enter his cave when he nearly ran into a shadowy figure who leapt nearly out of their skin.

Instantly, Winter assumed a typical Icewing battle formation, and bared his teeth, ready for a fight. Until he heard a voice panicky squeak,

"Oh! I'm sorry, um..., it's just me, Moon, I mean." and Moon stepped out into the early sunlight, scales glimmering and all.

Winter was surprised by just how many beautiful and colorful undertones Nightwing scales actually had. Moons were intricate dark green and blues. They shone nearly as pretty in the light as an Icewings.

Or a Sandwings, said a little voice in Winters head before he could snuff it out.

Oh, wonderful. I'm sure mother would like to hear about this. Why don't you just propose to the Sandwing if you think his scales are so nice? Huh? Get a grip. he internally scolded himself

Once again, he caught Moon giving him a sympathetic look like she was almost seeing right through him and into his core. He scowled at her. He would receive no pity from a Nightwing.

"What are you doing awake?" Spat Winter accusingly, "Sneaking off somewhere? Going to some secret Nightwing club to dream up MORE devious lies to tell the world?"

Moon flinched like he'd just touched her with one of his razor-sharp talons, he momentarily felt bad, she had, after all, just saved his scavenger yesterday. She straightened herself out boldly,

"I couldn't sleep." came her reply in barely above a whisper. She then looked around him, as though she were searching for something. Or someone.

"Is Qibli not with you?" she asked curiously

"No." Winter bit back, "We're not ALWAYS together."

Not able to stop himself, he added indignantly, "And we're not even really dating. Why?"

Moon nodded her head understandingly

"No reason. I was just curious, I suppose. I just haven't seen you without him is all." she explained honestly and impartially

Winter huffed, "Well if he had it his way I wouldn't."

Silence fell between the two of them and Winter noticed how un-Nightwingly Moon was. She wasn't pompous or as full of herself like most other Nightwings. She was sincere, and maybe she wasn't ALL bad. Winter cringed at this thought. No, she probably was just as bad, if not worse, but better at hiding it.
