It was the day of Aris' 9th birthday and they were over the moon excited. Sometime today their red string would reveal itself. They knew it didn't mean much, as their soulmate was most likely no one they knew, but they were excited that they could finally start searching. Aris' mom called from downstairs, "Hurry up sweetie, you don't want to be late to school!" Aris rushed downstairs and grabbed their toast with jam. Their dad gave their hair a little tussle, "Happy birthday kiddo!" "Thanks Dad!" They headed out the door with their mom.
Once dropped off at Hexside they rushed towards the doors, their mom shouted after them "Have a great day hun!" They waved off as they turned the corner inside. Walking up to their classroom they spotted their best friend, Oliver. They hadn't really been friends for too long, maybe a year, but he was the first person to talk to them since everyone saw them as a loner before. His logic being "If they just talked to you, then you wouldn't be a loner anymore." Which made total sense. "Ollie!!" "EEEE! Aris, happy birthday!!" The two young witches shared a tight hug before breaking apart and laughing. "Are you excited to see your string? Imagine if your soulmate was me." He nudged Aris laughing. "I doubt that! But yeah, I'm so ready!" They walked over to their seats and continued to talk.
It was lunch break and the two of them were chilling in the cafeteria. "C'mon Aris, I know you're excited, but you gotta eat!" "I know! I know! It's just I don't want to waste a single second once it's there!" Aris was staring intently at their ring finger, the finger where the rings would show. "Mmmmm, ok!" Ollie said while shoving another scoop of food in his mouth. Aris' technique had proved to work, as they immediately saw the trying start to form from its knot. Wait a minute, they sat there confused. "TWO!?" Both were looking with complete shock. "Woah...." Ollie said, flabbergasted, dropping his fork.
It had taken some time to get used to, with people who meet Aris constantly asking about the fact they have two soulmates, but after 7 years they got used to it. It was now their 16th birthday, and to this day they hadn't found either of their soulmates. If it wasn't for the fact they were such a hopeless romantic, they would've given up a while ago, but they were still very determined. They had walked up to their current friend group, greeted with plenty of hellos and other things. "Happy birthday bro." Ro said, giving them a nice big hug, while Ollie followed behind with a bigger one. "Thanks guys!" Aris had chuckled, rubbing their neck, although today was about them they were still embarrassed by all the attention. "Sooooo, do you think today will be the day you find your soulmates?" Zee had nudged Aris' shoulder, wiggling its eyebrows. "I don't know, but that would be the best birthday gift ever." Fluffel had come closer, holding out a bag, "Well it's not a soulmate, but here's my birthday gift for you." "Awww! Thanks dude!"Aris ripped through the fancy paper inside to reveal a gift card to one of their favorite shops in the market. "OMG! This is awesome! I've been saving up for this thing, now I can get it!" Aris put the card back in the bag. Zee had turned to Ollie, "I know we're all great friends, but I'd think Aris' bestie of besties would have a gift for them too." Ollie scoffed, "Jokes on you, I do have a gift, but I always celebrate with their family. So they don't get their gift till their parents give them their gifts." He finished by sticking his tongue out at Zee. "Hey guys no fighting, playfully or not, on my birthday," Aris grabbed Ollie by the arm, "C'mon we gotta get to class. See you guys later!" They said waving off.
So far, the day had just gone by as normal, and Aris was very bored. They started to look outside to watch the beast keeping class, when they saw a girl, with two strings leading to her hand.... What? I have to be seeing things, maybe there is someone behind her. They started to move their head side to side to see if they could see someone else, but to no avail, it was just her. They shot their hand up, "Teach! Can I go to the bathroom!?" They said in urgency, causing some classmates to give them a weird look. "Uh. Yes, go ahead." The teacher waved them off and continued the lesson. Aris rushed out the class, and outside to the beats keeping class.
Once outside they stopped, panting out of breath. Oh titan. Maybe running here wasn't a good idea. Aris looked up, to find two out of this world beautiful girls staring at them, with shocked faces. Aris looked at them, and saw one string connecting to each other, and the other one.... Connecting to their ring finger. All the three witches could do was stare in shock and awe. Slowly raising their stringed hand, Aris whispered out, sure that they couldn't hear it, "Uh, hey." They let out an awkward giggle, worried that they ruined their first impression on their two soulmates. The two girls looked at each other, and looked at Aris, both speaking up, "Hey!" The two walked over. The one with the cow looking features spoke first, "Are you alright? You seem awfully out of breath." Aris turned bright red, "Oh! Yeah, I just saw you guys out here during my class, and then ran out here because I got excited." Then with a face of realization, they mumbled, "That would've been very embarrassing if you guys ended up not being my soulmates." They both laughed. The other witch spoke, "Well soulmate, nice to meet you. I'm Cadence and this is Goose." She said while gesturing to each other at the respective times. "Beautiful.... Uh! I mean! I'm Aris." "Aris, beautiful name for a beautiful person." Goose had said, leaving Aris even more red, if that's even possible.
They sat there in a comfortable silence, until Goose and Cadence's teacher yelled out for them to hurry up and Aris realized they should get back, having been gone too long to just be in the bathroom. They waved goodbye to each other, and headed their respective ways. "Hey! Wait!" The two turned towards Aris, "Would you guys like to go on a date tomorrow?" Goose and Cadence smiled, nodding to each other, Cadence then spoke, "That would be wonderful!" "Ok! Tooth and Claw cafe?" "Tooth and Claw cafe it is!" Goose said. "Great! See ya then!" Aris ran off back to class, and the other two headed to their teacher. Greatest birthday ever!
