Maybe Grom Went Well After All

    Aris was getting ready for the grom night of a lifetime! Putting on their navy suit and tightening their tie, smoothing their hair back one last time. They had to look extra sharp as they had a date tonight they were desperate to impress, Skara. Aris had been crushing on Skara since the beginning of last year, and the crush had only increased from then. They had finally had the guts a week ago to ask Skara to grom, and now with their new found confidence Aris was dressed to impress.

    Aris had always been a hopeless romantic, so when they fell they fell pretty gosh darn hard. Aris was waiting outside the school waiting for Skara to show up, and all they could think of was how pretty Skara would look. While deep in thought, Ollie, Ro, and Fluffel walked up and waved, gaining no attention from the love stricken Aris. Ollie proceeded to poke at Aris, "Hey, Boiling Isles to Aris." "Oh! Didn't see you guys there." Aris rubbed their neck embarrassed. "Waiting for Skara huh lovebird?" Ro laughed. "Stop teasing me man, cmon! But yeah, she hasn't shown yet, but you guys go ahead, I'll catch up when she does." With that the three waved and walked into the school heading to the gym. Aris turned their attention back to the path leading up to the school and proceeded to wait.

    After a while, and talking to their friends as they walked up and into the school, Aris was losing hope. Skara hadn't shown up, and all that was left to do was admit they had gotten stood up. "I guess grom wasn't meant to go well tonight," Aris thought. With no more pep in their step and a solemn expression across their face they had dragged themselves into the gym and grouped up with their friends that were standing on the side, as they watched the others bust some moves on the dance floor. Zee looked over and realized Aris wasn't as happy as they were when they had talked a half an hour ago and there was no Skara to be seen. "Hey Aris, where's Skara?" "What does it look like, I got stood up!?" Aris had unintentionally snapped, and gasped automatically realizing they did. "Sorry..." Zee had given an empathetic look. "It's ok" they had put their hand on Aris' shoulder, "At least you got us, plus Skara is totally missing out right now!" Aris gave a soft smile in return, "Thanks Zee." Zee, with a smirk spread across its face, pushed Aris towards their friends on the dance floor. Aris had chuckled seeing what they were doing and walked the rest of the way up joining in the fun of the dancing.

The night was filled with laughter and funny jokes, but Aris just couldn't move on, still feeling horrible on the inside but smiling on the outside to keep from worrying their friends. Despite trying to hide it, two people noticed, Zee and Goose. Goose was extremely worried, she didn't want Aris' grom to be ruined, but she didn't have the guts to finally ask them to dance and didn't have a clue what to do.Now regardless of having no dating or love experience, Zee had realized Goose's interest and worry for Aris, and a smug little plan had been brewing in their head the entire night.

The time was fun, but also chaotic, with the grom monster escaping and the whole thing with Luz and Amity, which the crew agreed they definitely had to watch. After it had calmed down and the school had walked back to the gym to restart the calmer activities, Zee knew it was time to complete plan "awooga". Zee had already been talking up Goose all night, getting her confidence up, so when Zee mentioned that asking Aris to dance would make them feel better Goose didn't give it a second thought and agreed. Though walking up to Aris, that confidence quickly dissipated when Goose realized what she was doing. She started fumbling with her fingers and thought "Omg am I actually going to do this!" Goose was as red as a rose by the time she had reached Aris. Aris had felt Goose's presence and had turned to see her flustered. Highly confused, Aris asked "Um, Goose are you ok?" Goose couldn't manage to say any words, she surprised herself, she couldn't recall a time she was this flustered. All she could manage for a few seconds was a small nod, keeping her eyes on the floor.

Puffing up her chest and using her magic to create a rose, she shoved it to Aris' chest and with as much confidence as possible asked, "May I have this dance!?" 1...2...3...10 seconds and there was no response. Opening her squinted eyes, Goose saw Aris with the most red face she had ever seen Aris have. Aris was completely stunned and at that moment they had completely forgotten about being stood up, completely forgotten about any past crush they had on Skara. Realizing that they had left Goose waiting for a response, they quickly said, louder than intended, "YES! I WOULD LOve to dance with you..." Goose had started to smile uncontrollably and with her refound confidence put the rose in Aris' hair, which was returned with a goofy lovesick smile from them. Aris held out a hand and pulled Goose to the dance floor. The others, especially Zee, were all cheering them on. Plan awooga was a success.

After the song had ended Goose and Aris found themselves laughing to the point where they couldn't breathe. Aris calming down first, could only stare at Goose. "Damn I have a staring problem." Aris thought to themselves as they admired Goose's beauty and smiled. Once Goose had calmed down Aris had gained enough confidence to give her a peck on the cheek, which led to a crowd of hooping and hollering from the crew in the background. Goose turned to Aris with a shocked face, but it quickly turned to a love struck smile. Zee ran up and screamed "YES! FINALLY!" Wrapping their arms around the two lovebirds. "Now.. WHO'S READY FOR A CREW SLEEPOVER!!!" The others cheered as they headed out to one of their houses, Aris and Goose hand in hand. "I guess grom went well after all."
