Chapter Six

*At school*
"Where's Mike and Y/n?" Lucas asked Dustin as the bell rang.
"They're trying to find a way to protect Eleven."
"I'm telling you. Their stupid plans aren't going to work. You heard Y/n! They'll kill us to get to her." Lucas said.

*At Mike's house*
"Ok so how are we going to find Will?" Mike asked.
"I'm not sure." Y/n responded.
"I just can't believe this is actually happening. I never knew Will would actually go missing. So the night Will went missing, you found his bike deserted?" Mike said.
"Yeah. Then, I heard this strange chiming, like a clock. An old clock, like a grandfather clock. It was weird. Like, if someone was watching me, but no one was there." Y/n explained as she stared at a picture of Will.
El got up and walked to Y/n.
She stopped, froze.
She pointed at Will in the picture.
"El... do you know where he is?" Mike asked.
She nodded.

"Where is he?" Y/n asked El.
She showed them using the D&D board of where he was.
Mike knew what she was trying to say.
Will was in a different world.

"So Will is in the Upside Down, running away from an evil, the demogorgon." Lucas said.
"Basically." Mike said.
"Y/n. Did you know about this?" Dustin asked.
"No." Y/n said.
"How do you know, El?"
"Papa."
"Did he make you go into this world?"
"Yes and no."
"Did he make you have any contact with it? Not go into the world, but still communicate?"
"Yes."
"Ok. But how did Will fall into this world?"
"Gate."
"A gate?"
"Yes."
"Did the demogorgon lead him to the gate?"
"No. It took him."
"The demogorgon can travel between our worlds?"
"Yes."
"And what about the gate?"
"I opened the gate."
"Is that why the demogorgon was able to go into our world and take Will?" Y/n asked.
"Yes." El said, quietly.
"Damn." Lucas said.
"El... how do we get to the Upside Down?" Mike asked.
"Papa."
"He knows?" Y/n asked.
"Yes."
"Ok, now who the fuck is Papa?" Dustin complained.
"He was the one who held us captive in that lab. Told us to call him "Papa" like if he were our father." Y/n said having flashbacks of being in that prison.
"Where is the lab? Do you remember?" Mike asked Y/n.
"No. I really didn't want to remember so I just never looked back." Y/n explained.
"Guys... look!" Dustin said looking down at his hand.
"What now, Dustin?" Lucas said.
"Let me see your compasses! Now!"

Mike and Lucas gave him all of their compasses.
"What is it?" Mike asked.
"Why are the compasses facing that way? That's not True North. This way is True North. Compasses change their direction when a huge electromagnetic field, in this situation a gate, is interfering with the compass. These compasses can lead us to the gate, then we find Will!" Dustin explained.
"Wait. We're talking about a gate that has all these monsters that is past human knowledge along with things that we don't even know about. We don't know if this is safe." Y/n explained.
"Yeah, but your brother and our friend is out there, alone. With all these monsters and we don't even know if he's safe, let alone, alive." Mike said.
"Ask El. She knows more about this than we all do." Y/n insisted.
"El, how do we get to this world, safely?"
"It's not safe."
"Then, how do we get Will back?" Mike asked.
"I don't know."
"Is there a way to contact Will without being in that world?" Y/n asked.
El nods.

*8:00 pm. At the School*
*When all story lines meet, they all come together to contact Will*

"You sure this will work?" Mike asked Dustin.
"Let's just hope Mr. Clarke was right." Dustin replied.

"So you and everyone else, found this girl, brought her into the basement, let her stay down there and we NEVER noticed?" Nancy asked Mike, while they broke into the supply closet to grab the hose.
"Yeah, pretty much." He replied.
"And Y/n... she knows this "El" person? They have history together?" She asked trying to process everything.
"Yes."
"Wow. Ok that's a lot."

"This will help El keep it dark when she's trying to stay afloat." Joyce said as she gave Y/n the goggles she made.
"How come you never told us about your... past?" Joyce asked Y/n.
"I guess I just felt, ashamed and guilty. I thought that if I were to tell you guys, I would be putting you in danger." Y/n said.
"So El, you know her? Like, before any of this ever happened?" Joyce asked.
"Yeah, when we were both in that lab. The day I escaped, I felt guilty. I know the bigger kids gave El a hard time and I felt bad because I felt that I abounded her, but the person that helped me escape told me to go alone." Y/n explained.

"Who was the person that helped you escape?"
"His name was H- Peter. Peter. When I asked El where he was, she told me that he had left. I don't think I'll ever see him again. Sucks cause he was a friend of mine. When I would get hurt in the lab from the other kids, he was always there for me." Y/n said, as a tear ran down her cheek.
She missed him. So much. He was a true friend.
Joyce just hugged her.

***
"Can you see him?" Joyce asked El.
"Yes." El replied as she floated on the water.
"Where is he?"
"Castle Byers."
"Is he ok?"
"He's... he's cold. Afraid."
"Tell him that we're coming. Tell him we'll be there." Joyce said tearing up.
"....hurry..." The radio said, with a distorted tone.
