Y/N's Pov

I was getting ready to close up for the day. I worked at a library in Fortuna. I had no family or friends left, and I didn't believe the obvious garbage about Sparda or his actions. The main reason was because unlike most people in the city, I had access to the actual accounts from those who met him. Everyone had been taught what the Order wanted, but I had left a few old writings from Sparda's time around.

I was about to finish locking up when someone came in. I hid my groan and went back to the desk.

Y/N: "Can I help you?"

Stranger: "I wish to know about Sparda." It sounded like a young woman, maybe around my age. Based on her voice, she couldn't be older than 17.

Y/N: "That section over there." I pointed to where the Order's religious works were. Hopefully she would get bored and leave from that.

I sat down and opened my own book, hoping to pass the time and get to go home and sleep soon. The stranger sat down and began looking through the books where I pointed her. She wore a hood, but it was different from what everyone else wore. I suspected she wasn't from around here, but didn't care to find out. Every person in Fortuna wore a gown and hood, but hers was ragged and made of a different material.

She sped through every book she could until I noticed the sun had almost set. I knew I had to get home soon before curfew. I got up and walked over to her.

Y/N: "Ma'am, I'm closing soon."

Stranger: "I will be back tomorrow, then." Of course she would. She got up, put her books back and left. I noticed what looked like the handle of a weapon in her hand, but only for a second.

The next day she came in early and went to the same corner. I ignored her, until I looked over and saw she had already gone through almost everything the order had approved for people to read. Maybe she would finally get bored and move on. She stayed the entire day. I ate my meals at my desk like normal, and she didn't move until the late afternoon. Once she finished reading everything she could find, she came back over to the desk.

Stranger: "Is there any more on Sparda?"

Y/N: "That's all the Order has."

Stranger: "Is there anything that is not religious doctrine on him?"

Y/N: "You're not from around here, are you?" She paused. "I can tell. You don't blend in very well."

Stranger: "If you tell anyone I am here-"

Y/N: "I don't care about that. But since you aren't part of that cult..." I leaned in a bit and lowered my voice. There was nobody else, but I felt safer that way. "I can show you the real accounts by people who actually met him. If you help me."

Stranger: "What are you proposing?"

Y/N: "I can let you read those, but not here. It's not safe to even bring them out here. At night, we go to my home, and you read them there."

Stranger: "And what do you want in return?"

Y/N: "I want to know about the outside world. That's it. And if anyone finds out about this, we're both dead, so don't try anything."

Stranger: "You have a deal."

Y/N: "Stay here until the sun sets. I'll close the library and take you to my home. I keep them there."

She waited at a table the rest of the time. She pulled out a book of her own and read it the entire time. Once sunset came, I started to get ready to leave. Nobody else had come in that day, which was fairly normal. I got up and walked over to her.
