Ch 3: Heartwarming Family Reunion

Y/N's Pov

Nero: "Where are we going, mommy?"

Vergilia: "We're trying to find my sister." She said, stepping down to be eye level with him. "I just found out she's alive."

Y/N: "Don't worry, Nero, it'll only be a quick trip. Then we'll be back to see Credo and Kyrie." His little eyes lit up at that. "Now, go pack some toys. We'll leave tonight." Now that Nero was old enough, we would be able to stow away on a ship, but we decided to stay in Fortuna because we had made some friends here. Those we were friends with wouldn't say anything about us leaving, and many of them didn't see us often enough to even notice.

I noticed that Vergilia looked apprehensive.

Y/N: "Everything ok?"

Vergilia: "What if she went on the same path as me? What if she's become a danger to humanity?"

Y/N: "Didn't the demon say she killed demons?"

Vergilia: "Y-yes."

Y/N: "Then she's probably ok." I kissed her and went to help Nero pack up. We had enough clothes to blend in outside, since inside, a lot of people, including me, had less formal clothes.

Timeskip

The plan went off without a hitch. We arrived in the harbor and Vergilia teleported Nero over out of sight and then came back and did the same for me.

Y/N: "So, how do we find her?"

Vergilia: "The place to start is Red Grave city. Our childhood home was there. If there are any clues as to where she is, we'll find them there."

Y/N: "Ok."

Timeskip

After arriving in Red Grave, we were sitting at a table in a restaurant eating our food. Nero was gawking at the technology of the outside, but I'd already heard a lot about it.

Out of nowhere, we heard screams, and turned to see a woman who looked almost exactly like Vergilia, but in a red coat. She was holding a chair up, and had apparently used it to block an attack from a translucent orange demon. Before anyone could react, she threw the chair at the demon and sent it flying out the window.

Y/N: "That has to be her."

Vergilia: "It is. She has the sword of our father." We saw her kill the demon out the window, but before she could pick out the remains, a figure swooped in and grabbed them. The woman let them go, and came back in.

Dantine: "Sorry for the damage. Send me the bill." She wrote something on a piece of paper. I went over.

Y/N: "Who was that woman?"

Waiter: "Trouble."

Y/N: "What's her address? I need to ask her some questions."

Waiter: "Right here." He handed the paper to me. She'd written her address on it. I copied it down and thanked him. Then I walked back over to our table.

Y/N: "I got her address."

Vergilia: "Oh. Good thinking."

Nero: "Mommy, did we find Aunt Dantine yet?"

Vergilia: "We just did."

After we finished our food, we left for the address. It was a run down shop with a huge neon sign with several letters almost burned out. It read 'Devil May Cry'.

Y/N: "This look like her place to you?"

Vergilia: "Yes. This is the sort of thing she would do." We went inside. She was asleep with a magazine on her face. She didn't even take it off.

Dantine: "Nature calls? Toilet's in the back."

Vergilia: "Dantine? Is that you?" Now she started to move. She took the magazine off her face and looked at us.

Dantine: "Vergilia? You're alive?"

Vergilia: "I could say the same for you, little sister." Dantine looked at me and Nero.

Dantine: "Why hello there." She came over to us and knelt at Nero's height.

Nero: "Hi, Aunt Dantine." She stood up.

Dantine: "I guess you're the lucky guy?"

Y/N: "Yeah." I said sheepishly. "Long story." 

Vergilia looked at the walls, which were covered in all kinds of weapons.

Vergilia: "Have you been... Taking the fight to the demons? I found out you're alive because one said you killed his companions."

Dantine: "Better than that. I put Mundus back where he belongs." She smiled. "Long story." The two sisters embraced.

Y/N: "I guess we have time to hear it."

Dantine: "I want to hear yours first. Like how my responsible big sister got busy." We both blushed.

Nero: "What does that mean?"

Y/N: "Oh, it just means we had you at a younger age than most couples." I responded frantically. "Um, is there a... Good hotel or somewhere like that? It's getting late. Nero needs to go to bed."

Dantine: "You guys are welcome to stay here. We need to catch up. Bedroom's in the back. We'll probably be talking all night."

Y/N: "Oh... Um, Thank you." I took Nero there and we both went to bed.

Vergilia's Pov

Vergilia: "Are they... Safe here? I feel uncomfortable letting either of them out of my sight ever since that demon appeared."

Dantine: "You kill it?"

Vergilia: "No. It retreated."

Dantine: "They're safe here. Anything happens, both of us can be in there in less than a second."

Vergilia: "Good point. I just... Don't want them to end up like mother."

Dantine: "I understand. I'm happy for you."

Vergilia: "I almost became a threat to everything our father fought for. I thought you were dead. I felt like I failed all of you that day. I wanted power so I could make sure that never happened again. But I lost sight of why I wanted it eventually. Then I... Met Y/N. And... My human side got the better of me, and the next thing I knew, I was pregnant with Nero. And I remembered why I wanted strength again."

Dantine: "Aw. How cute. They're both great for you. It's good to see you at least got father's luck in dating."

Vergilia: "What do you mean?"

Dantine: "I have rotten luck with boys."

Vergilia: "You'll get lucky sometime."

Dantine: "I'd love to hear the full story behind that kid, though. What happened there?" She was grinning. My face flushed. "Don't leave out any details."

I told her the full story on how Y/N and I ended up together.

Vergilia: "Ok. I told you all of that. Now your turn. What have you been doing for the last 10 years?"

Dantine: "Well... It's not as enjoyable as your story." She leaned back in her seat.
