Dantine's Pov
I was in my shop, waiting for any calls to come in. Now that Vergilia had taught me to manage my finances better, I had actually paid back my debts to Lady and my pizza tab. My walls were lined with devil arms from all kinds of demons.
I had even come mostly out of the depression I'd slipped into after sealing Mundus when I saw that I still had a family. I did feel somewhat jealous of Vergilia. I wanted to find someone, but my luck was much worse. Of course she would have a happy family by accident while I was actively trying and got nowhere. Maybe someday.
I got a call and picked up the phone. It was someone with the password, so I asked what was going on. The caller told me there was a large group of demons nearby. When I walked outside, I was surprised I didn't notice before. They were everywhere. I went into the city to try to find out what was going on. Thankfully, most people were staying inside, and the demons were mostly focusing on me. The only thing I had to go on when trying to figure out what kind of demons I was dealing with was that almost all of then wielded scythes.
I ran through the city aimlessly looking for any answer. I began to notice the number of them was increasing, and eventually found the source. It was a huge hole in the ground. They were pouring out of it. The entrance was guarded by a Cerberus demon. I defeated it and took the devil arm. It looked like a huge underground complex. I wasn't sure where it came from, deciding to ask Vergilia about it when this was done.
I found a set of Demon twins with matching swords. I took their devil arms too. I had decided a while ago to only ever bring along Sparda, Rebellion, Coyote, and Ebony and Ivory, since I often ended up getting plenty more weapons on the journey. I was still not getting any closer to finding out what was going on.
I got further in and killed a lightning witch and a huge humanoid demon, and took both of their devil arms too. I had killed a bunch of demons, but there was no sign of any way to shut this down.
Then I found a room in the middle that was larger and wide open. In there were seven large demons that looked fairly powerful. I asked what they wanted, and they responded that they were the guardians of the tower that my dad had put there. Mundus had given them back their names, and freed them. Apparently even sealed away, he could still cause problems.
They also said that all he had asked them in return was that they take some of my blood and use it to free him.
Dantine: "Well then, let's get this over with, shall we?" They all attacked at once, but I was able to defeat them one by one. Once they were all dead, I was surprised that none of them gave me devil arms. I guess that since they had already technically been defeated by dad, they could never become devil arms.
I made my way out of the structure, and found that the demons had stopped coming out. Killing those demons had apparently stopped it.
I returned home and ordered a pizza, since thankfully they weren't hit in the attack. I hung up my new devil arms and sat back down to start writing a letter to Vergilia. She knew much more about this kind of thing than I did, so maybe she would have some answers.
Then I remembered never finding out who sent the call. There was no way to trace it, so I was stuck. I'd ask Morrison if he could do anything. Maybe it had been a demon trying to lure me out.
Vergilia's Pov
I was reading at my desk when Y/N came in. I'd sent him out to check the mail.
Y/N: "There's a letter addressed to you from your sister." He put it on my desk.
Vergilia: "Thank you." I read it. It was asking about a massive subterranean structure that had appeared under Red Grave. The demons inside had claimed they knew father. I pondered what it could be, and then I remembered Temen-ni-gru. I didn't know much about it, but this matched the description.
