New Years - Breakup ( conjoined chapters)

December 31st 2005 - Time 11:59

" Baby come on it's the countdown!" Diego yelled at me and I run down the stairs while putting on the second earring. 

" I'm here! I'm here!" 

" Number eight you're always late." Klaus joked. I'm wearing the dark blue dress that I got for Christmas and run next to Diego. He hands me a glass of champagne and holds my waist. Allison's sitting next to Vanya since she got in a fight with Luther because he was jealous of me and Diego moving faster than they are. Dad was standing behind us, I asked him to stay for the countdown and he agreed. Pogo and mom were there as well. 

" Are you ready for your first new year's kiss?" I asked Diego.

" I was born ready." 

" Everyone shut up it's starting !" Allison yelled. 

" 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Happy new year !!!" We all yelled at once and Diego pulled me in for a kiss. I wrapped my arms around his neck carefully so that I don't spill any champagne and pulled away to hug everyone. I saw dad leaving so I run behind him.

" Dad wait!" 

" What is it number eight ?" 

" Happy new year." I hugged him and he was hesitant at first but he hugged back with one of his arms. 

" Happy new year kid. " I pulled away and smiled and he left. 

" Why did you do that?" Allison asked

" I don't know, overly excited I guess. " 

" Happy new year y/n my love." Mom hugged me and smiled. 

" Oh, Diego the thing !" 

" On it." 

" Mom we forgot to give you your gift on Christmas day, but we got you a little something as well." 

" Aw, you kids shouldn't have. " Mom smiled and sat down on the couch and opened her present. 

" I picked it!" Allison said.

" And it was my idea !" I said. Mom looked at the machine and smiled. 

" Thank you so much. Come here everyone." Mom pulled us in for a group hug and after that we all partied for the rest of the night. It was magical. Allison and Luther made up as well. Then  around four, the slow songs started playing. Diego pulled me from the couch and we started dancing to " Can't Help Falling in Love." by Elvis. 

" Are you having fun y/n? " 

" Yeah, but I think I'm going to bed after this, I'm so tired. "

" You were sleeping all day to stay up tonight." He laughed. 

" Y/n, I- I need to t-t-t-tell you something." 

" You can do it baby tell me. " I hold his face in my hands and he takes a deep breath.

" You don't need to say it back, but I- I th-, I thin-. I think...." He sighs

" What does mom say? Picture the word in your mind first." I smile at him and he closes his eyes.

" Y/n, I think I love you." He opens his eyes and I'm shocked. I thought I'd be the first one to say this. He sighs and goes to pull away but I stop him.

" Hey, what are you doing?"

" Leaving."

" Why?" He looks at the floor embarrassed. "Diego, baby, look at me." He looks in my eyes and I'm sure I can say it. " I think I love you too. " His eyes lighten up and his smile lights up the whole room. He kisses me and we leave to go to our room.
