"Phil!" Jackie heard Claire yell from the TV room. She had accidentally turned on the TV with full volume on.
"What are you doing mom?" Jackie asked as she walked into the room with her hands covering her ears.
"I don't know, I don't know!" Claire snapped as she frenetically clicked on every button on the remote. "Phil!" She shouted again.
Jackie rolled her eyes and snatched the remote from her mothers hand. With a click she had lowered the volume.
"Why does your dad install all these over complicated, stupid electronics in the house! They suck, first the thermostat and now this. What happened to just having a regular Tv with a regular remote?" Claire asked bitterly.
"God you sound like grandpa" Jackie said shaking her head while trying too stiffen her laugh.
"No I don't" Claire stated in denial.
"If you say so" Jackie muttered putting her hands up in the air. "But for the rest of this family's ears sake I'm going to ban you from the remote until dad can teach you how to use it." Jackie explained walking out of the Tv room with her mom right on her heels.
"Why can't you teach me how to use this stupid, awful remote, you know how it works!" Claire asked in a frustrated voice.
"Because dear mother, I don't have nearly as much patience as dad has" Jackie replied. "But I'm going over to Grandad and Gloria's place to see if it's Manny who has stolen my lavender perfume"
"Why do you think he has taken your perfume?" Claire asked in confusion.
"Because it smelt suspiciously much lavender the last time I was there" Jackie explained. "Bye mom!"

"Hola Jackie!" Gloria greeted as Jackie opened the door.
"Hi Gloria!" Jackie responded.
"Hi, I'm Whitney!" A woman sitting on a chair next to Gloria introduced herself.
"Hi, I'm Jackie, nice too meet you! Are you a friend if Gloria's?" Jackie replied.
"She is my date" Manny spoke up when no one else said anything for a few seconds.
Jackie gave Gloria a confused look.
"Don't ask, just help me with this makeover" Gloria said handing handing Jackie a curling iron.
"Okay..." Jackie said hesitantly looking between Manny and Whitney.

"I'm a little nervous" Whitney admitted from another room.
"Don't be" Gloria reassured her.
"I'm sure you'll look beautiful" Manny piped in.
At that Whitney walked into the kitchen in one of Gloria's dresses.
"Curly hair really suits you" Jackie complimented Whitney.
"You think so?" Whitney asked happily.
"Yeah really" Jackie replied truthfully, with a big smile plastered onto her face.
"You are gonna be fighting men of with a stick" Gloria assured her as she went to see who was at the door. "Cameron!"
"Hi. Sorry for the pop-over but I just wanted to bring you these to thank you for babysitting Lily" Jackie heard Cam say from the hall. "God it smells really good in here, is it lavender?"
