Outside of Santalune City, Valerie inhaled the scent of fresh flowers in bloom. The fragrance of the Iris flower—the petals so beautiful, in her eyes—captivated her. Holding the blossom in her hand, Valerie felt the breeze pick it up, the petals slowly falling to the ground. The Kalos sun illuminated the scattered freckles on Valerie's face as she relaxed her shoulders.
Her mind was scrambled as she thought of the contents in the letter. She pet her Zigzagoon with her right hand, the creature softly sobbing. Her partner-in-crime—Valerie's Galarian Zigzagoon—was transferred to Arcadia for its monthly check-up.
The gentle breeze picked up Valerie's hair, the green hair softly blowing in the wind as her eyes scanned around—looking at the group of people she decided to travel with.
Was it the... right choice? Was it the right choice to travel with strangers in a region she had never been to? ...Could they be bad people?
She had a doubtful look, quickly shaking her head. 'No. It was the right choice. I'm certain one of them was a gym leader... probably Clemont, if I had to guess. Serena was kind to me in the performance. Ash seems nice, if not a little hyperactive... and Bonnie is just an innocent, beginning trainer. This group is most likely one of the most generous I'll ever come across.'
Valerie's mind wandered to her old trip in Johto, her hand on her lap. She took in the rays of the Kalos sun. Closing her eyes, she remembered the sounds of leaves falling in in Ecruteak City during an autumn day. However, before she got too deep in reminiscing, Valerie was interrupted by someone with a hyper voice
"So, Valerie... What do you say we have a battle between our starters?"
Valerie opened her eyes, looking towards Ash... who had walked over to her. She nodded with a smile, gently removing Zigzagoon from her lap. The brown-colored creature jumped out of the way, walking around her trainer's leg.
The green-haired woman chuckled, looking at her starter. "Well... I will use Zigzagoon, since I want her to get some energy out. Is that okay with you?"
The raven-haired young man nodded. Valerie walked away from Ash, stopping after a few feet. Pikachu, perking his head up after hearing his Trainer call out his name, ran towards the middle of the impromptu battlefield, releasing sparks of electricity. Pikachu followed Zigzagoon's movements, the Hoennian Pokémon playing with Pikachu... before getting into a battle stance.
"Ash, you can go first." Valerie called out, looking towards Ash and Pikachu.
'DAME Isn't needed here... This is just for fun.
Ash grinned. He looked at his first Pokémon—his partner—who had been there for him since the beginning of his journey.
