"is this it?" lark looked around at the living room, only two balloons were floating near the corners of the room, a plain chocolate cake was placed on the coffee table and several bags of chips littered the room, dotted among the mess of unhealthy snacks were wrapped up presents.
lark gently set joanne's gift by the cake before turning to wrap an arm around her waist.
joanne shrugged. "thank you. and yeah, my parents were ecstatic when i told them i even wanted a celebration this year. jo's allowed to throw a party on friday this week, see if you can make it?"
"yeah," lark murmured as she ducked down to steal a kiss.
"jojo," heather called from joseph's room, "pick a movie!"
"i don't mind, you pick!" joanne called back.
lark raised an eyebrow. "but it's your birthday, you have to choose."
"okay, fine, what movies do you not want to watch, so i don't pick those."
"horror or whatever." lark replied dismissively.
the brunette thought for a while, munching on any food closest to her. "okay, heather, find some horror movies in jo's room."
"you're a dick," lark huffed.
"i hope that's not what you normally say to her, ms. walter." mr. gibson raised an eyebrow as he came out of the kitchen with bottles of coke in his hands.
lark shook her head. "no, of course not, jojo's my queen."
"wow, you're such a nerd." joanne guffawed.
"i'm your nerd, birthday girl. now, where's joseph? i need to give him his present and tell that boy that his team sucks."
