After leaving Champion City, Sonic, Jesse, and friends walk along the stone path back to Beacontown.
As the group walks along, Petra triumphantly raises her sword in the air and says,
Petra: Man, it feels so good to have you back!
Rouge: That’s a nice sword you got there, Petra.
Petra: Yeah, it's great. But it doesn't just look good. It also hits pretty hard.
Tails: Of course, that's mostly due to the enhancements. Without them, a sword like that wouldn't do much damage. Gold is actually pretty soft, you know.
Petra: And that's exactly why I put all these enchantments on it - So it's both functional and stylish.
Espio: Even so, it’s important to remember that it’s not the weapon that matters. It’s the hand that wields it.
Petra: Yeah… Thanks for helping me out back there, guys. I know it got a little crazy back there…
Shadow: That’s an understatement…
Jesse: It’s alright, Petra. What happened then is all in the past, and we can’t change that.
Sonic: Yeah. While we don’t like that you hid the truth from us, that’s in the past now. And besides, we’re glad that you were able to reunite with your favorite enchanted weapon.
To this, Petra replies,
Petra: Oh, yeah! Reunited and it feels so good!
As clouds start to cover up the sky, Sonic, Jesse, and friends walk past the field situated above the Heckmouth, which is marked by the warning sign Jesse had left there.
Just as Jesse walks past the sign, the mysterious voice whispers again,
Voice: Jesse...
Hearing the whisper, Jesse stops, and the gauntlet starts to glow again.
As Jesse raises his hand, Sonic says,
Sonic: It's glowing again...
Tails: But why?
While Petra approaches Jesse, the group feels the ground shake as a loud noise like a muffled explosion is heard.
Rouge: What was that?
Amy: Oh no... The Heckmouth!
As Sonic steps forward and onto the grass, he notices the hole being blown open by an explosion while the rumbling starts to get louder.
Realizing what's happening, his eyes widen in shock as he says,
Sonic: Everybody get back!
While Sonic's friends jump back, Jesse pushes Petra away from the grassy area as a massive explosion goes off, creating a giant hole in the ground.
Jesse: Looks like the sign didn't stop that...
Petra: Or those...
Petra then points to the hole, where many tall green creatures are seen leaping out.
Charmy: What are those things?
Sonic: Creepers! They're another common kind of monster in this world!
Shadow: Don't let them get too close, or they'll explode!
Seeing the approaching mob of Creepers, Sonic, Jesse, and friends quickly draw their weapons while Petra says,
