Growing up, I was always surrounded by media
and all the celebrity drama. My father worked as "paparazzi" for a big music magazine and I saw it on a daily basis pretty much my whole life. My father was a nice man, but his work ultimately caused pain to others, whether intentionally or not. I always noticed how these people who had gotten famous were exploited and how the media effected them. I thought that by working as a pr assistant, I could possibly help them relieve their daily stresses and help prevent anything truly drastic or tragic happening to them.

I had only been working as a publicist for six months now and only just moved into the big city on my own. As I was new to the scene, I had always been assigned to younger musicians who were first making their way into the music business. It was nice for me as I got to teach them ways to watch out for themselves as they traversed this world.  One day while I was working as normal, my boss called me into her office. I sat down a bit nervous, as I wasn't sure what was happening. I started to run scenarios in my head about being fired. What had I done to deserve this? My boss started speaking and I snapped back into reality.

"Jessica, I'm assigning you another client." My boss said.

"Another one? I already have three right now!" I said, starting to feel a bit overwhelmed.

"Don't worry, I'm taking them off you and giving them to others. You're new client is very important and you need to give your full attention to them." My boss explained.

"Oh wow, this must be someone big." I thought to myself.

"Jessica listen, my good friend called me specifically asking for a younger person, who was socially savy and good with social media. And I think you fit this description perfectly." She continued.

"Oh wow, thank you!" was all I could get out at that moment.

At 24, I guess I was technically a young person and admittedly, I was all over social media.

"Now I can't tell you too much right now as they don't want it to be known they are using a publicist, but his name is Noel Gallagher. He's an older man in his 50's and he isn't very media friendly. His wife will call you with more information soon. I'm trusting you with this client Jessica, don't let me down." My boss finished and I was allowed to leave.

It was a bit nerve wracking that I was being given such a big job apparently, but I felt confident enough to handle some 50 year old man. I sat back at my desk and decided to look him up. His name didn't sound familiar to me, but guessing by his age he must have been big back in the 80's or 90's. I googled his name and a bunch of headlines came up of him saying things about younger artists. I clicked on each one and every time he was saying rude things about them. He seemed like a down right snob. I could see this being harder and not as fun as I first thought. What was so special about this old man? Who did he think he was? I'd never even heard of him before.

Later, as I was walking home, I got the call from his wife. She said her name was Sara and that she was the one who wanted to hire me directly. She gave me some more information about what I would be doing. She gave me Noel's number and the address to their house. Sara told me that she wanted me to work in person with Noel and that I would be spending most of my time at their house. I guess it was cool that I wouldn't be working in the office or my flat. I could only afford a small studio flat here in London and I could barely move in there. I always wanted to be elsewhere so being at their house might be better and less stressful for me. I thanked Sara for her call and the information she gave me. Noel's wife sounded very nice and appreciative on the phone, totally different to what I'd seen about Noel. Glad that at least his wife didn't sound like asshole. That would've been even harder to deal with.

I got home and flopped down on my bed. Staring at the ceiling, trying to prepare myself for what I was about to get myself into.
