It had been 2 months since the day Noel left Jess at the flat. It broke his heart to do it but he felt it what was best for them. He went immediately to the pub and got completely wasted so he didn't even have to think about what he did. When he finally awoke after so many hours, Noel found himself back at the same hotel he was before he moved in with Jess.
For the next few days Noel tried to go back to his normal self and push Jess out of his mind, but it was no use. He would sit and play guitar on the bed but all he could think about was showing Jess how to play. He would go out on to the balcony to get some fresh air but all he could see was Jess standing there, wind blowing through her hair and her beautiful smile looking back at him. At the end of the week, Noel had switched hotels. A new setting had let him focus on other things for a bit and try to forget Jess. Noel started hanging out with his old friends, going to different pubs, and working on his music again. Though it only distracted Noel for a bit. Soon people stopped asking him about Jess and his name disappeared from the media, yet all he could think about was her.
One day while Noel was picking at his guitar a thought floated in his head. He set down the guitar and picked up his phone. He searched Jess' social media pages. Twitter, Instagram, anything, it was all the same. She hadn't posted since the day before Noel broke them up. He looked up the company Jess had worked for but didn't see her on the page. He found a number and gave them a call. The line rang for a bit and finally a lady answered.
"Hello, New Star Management & Agency, how can I help you today?"
"Hi im looking for one of your pr assistant employees, her name is Jessica Patterson."
"Sorry sir shes no longer in our networks." The lady replied.
"What?"
"I'm sorry sir her services were not required here anymore. I can help you find someone else, we have plenty of other talented assistants here who can help you."
"Fuck!. . sorry, I'm ok right now thank you."
Noel put the phone down and laid back, his hands over his face, and a sinking feeling in his stomach. He knew then he had to make things right.
Over the next few days Noel wanted to try and patch things up with Jess but he wasn't sure how to go about it. One day he got his driver to stop by Jess' flat. He got out and went up to the door. He peeked in the windows but saw no sign of her. He was about to knock on the door but his heart started racing too fast and he backed away and got back into the car.
As every day passed Noel heart ached more and more to see Jess again. He had to make things right with her again. Noel knew he could poor his heart out to Jess but found it so hard to say them out loud. So he did what he always was best at and put them into a song.
Noel found himself walking down the streets down near Jess' flat. He didn't care about being seen, he just wanted to be outside with his thoughts. As he was walking along his stomach grumbled and he found himself walking into the restaurant where him and Jess first really started hanging out together. Noel put one foot though the door when he was stopped right in his tracks. He looked across to the table where they would sit and found Jess there eating alone. She looked as beautiful as ever. He wanted to back out again but he knew this was his chance to make things right. Noel slowly made his way over to the table and sat down across from Jess.
"Hi." Noel said.
Jess lifted her head up and saw those familiar bright blue eyes staring at her. She never thought they would grace her presence again. All she wanted to do was hug him for how much she missed him but also hit him for how he left her.
Jess leaned over on the table and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Noel was confused but very happy until she let off and then immediately slapped him.
"Well I guess do deserve that." Noel said rubbing his face.
"Yeah you fucking do!" Jess said back to him.
She sat back in the booth, arms crossed, waiting for what Noel was gonna say.
"Listen Jess, I'm really sorry for walking out on you. I know I was a massive cunt for doing that. I wasn't thinking clearly and I just wanted to run away from that situation. I shouldn't have left and I'm so sorry. I hope you can forgive me because I have something I really want to show you."
Jess wasn't sure if she was ready to forgive Noel yet, she was still so upset and angry at him. Her head was telling her to walk out and make Noel feel more pain but her heart told her to go and see what Noel wanted to show her. She let out one of the deepest sighs inside her as she made her choice.
"Okay. So what it is you want to show me?"
A smile of relief spread across Noel's face. He stood up and reached out for Jess' hand.
"Come back to my place and I'll show you."
Jess reluctantly took Noel's hand and they walked out the restaurant and back to the hotel. Noel didn't say a word to her as they got to the hotel and into his room. As she walked in with Noel, she saw what a mess it was. Lyric sheets and magazines scattered everywhere, multiple Chinese cartons and beer bottles on the tables. Is this really the state he had been in while they were apart?
Noel cleared a space on the bed and told Jess to sit down. He grabbed his guitar sitting in the corner and sat on the bed next to her. Before Jess could say anything Noel began playing.
"Tried to hang on to myself, Don't believe in no-one else.
And I'm shakin' like a leaf, As I fall into the street.
But the girl with X-Ray eyes, she's gonna see through my disguise.
Going nowhere down a hill.
It's hard to swallow like the pill, that was twisted on your tongue.
By the sea that was standing still.
There was no-one to be seen.
No-one left to hear my scream.
So she took me by the hand, we followed clues left in the sand.
As she swallowed space and time, we gathered pearls and swine.
She shot me to the sun, like a bullet from a gun.
When the deed was done, in the morning she was gone.""I'm not completely finished with it yet but it's for you. I know I was a dickhead to you when we first met. I didn't like having someone telling me what to do and I just wanted everything done my own way. But when we started working and hanging out together something changed, It was you. You saw me for who I really am but also make me a better person. I know I was a cunt not so long ago and I'm sorry. I trust you and I don't ever want to do that to you again. I love you and I want to be with you. I hope you can forgive me."
Jess was completely speechless, all she could do was cry. She reached over and gave Noel the biggest hug. He was so relieved and happy to have Jess back in his arms again.
"Oh Noel. I forgive you and I love you too. I can't believe you wrote a song about me, it's the sweetest thing anyones ever done for me. I'm glad you realized your mistake."
Noel took Jess' hands into his. " I should've done it sooner. I never want to hurt you again." He leaned over and gave her a kiss.
Noel set his guitar back down. "Will you stay with me tonight?" He asked Jess, and she nodded.
Noel and Jess got into the bed and talked the rest of the night. She asked him to play her song again and Noel obliged. He was so happy she loved it.
As they cuddled in bed, Jess had her head on Noels chest and Noel was caressing her arm."I missed you so much." Jess said looking at up at Noel.
"I missed you so much too." Noel said back and gave Jess a little peck. And they fell asleep in each others arms.
