As I got into a rhythm working with Noel and his music I became more settled into his life. I had tried to create a monthly schedule for Noel to keep him on track of media appearances. He would always tell me when he was going to the studio and which days he would be at home. When he was down in the studio, I would stay in the office or at home. When Noel was at home, I would come over a few times but I did want to give him his own personal space so somedays I would stay back. Though sometimes when I told him I wasn't coming he sounded a bit sad. On of of these days I felt bad so I asked him if he wanted me to come over and he said yes.
When I got to Noel's house, I didn't even get chance to knock on his door when it immediately opened.
"Hi Jess." Noel was standing by the door smiling.
He actually had a beautiful smile when you saw it, it always made me feel warm inside."Feel free to take anything you want from the kitchen, I have no clue what Sara has here." Noel said as we walked into the house
"Just don't take my fucking crisps." Noel said pretending to be serious then laughed.
"I'm gonna be in the other room for a bit, just give a shout if you need me." Noel said and gave me a touch on my arm.
I couldn't understand him. He was so sweet and caring to me now, smiling, touching. I had never seen him show any of this side to him to the public. I had watched his interviews and he always looked so grumpy and couldn't be arsed to be there. If people saw how he really was, he would be adored by so many. I really hoped I could help him with this.
I sat down at my normal place on the couch and brought out my stuff to start working. A few minutes later I started to hear guitar playing from down the hall. It was a lot louder than normal, but I just sat and listened for a while. I never really noticed how soothing and calming his music was.
The music stopped and I went back to work. Some time later, Noel came back into the room. He slowly walked up the hall and stopped behind me. I could feel the back of the couch sink a bit and saw Noel out of the corner of my eye looking over my shoulder.
"What are you doing?" I turned my head back up to Noel.
"I'm uh . . just a fixing my sock. You go back to work now, pretend im not here." He smiled at me.
I laughed as Noel finally walked away. I had caught him doing that a few times before. Pretending like he wasn't interested in my work, but it was obvious he was becoming intrigued. I wanted to collaborate with Noel with my work and was glad we were heading in that direction.
Some days when I was working from home while Noel was at the studio he would invite me over when he got back. I'm not sure why, I thought he saw enough of me when I came for work. When I would come over, I noticed that Sara was never around.
One night when I was working late at Noel's house, he offered me a drink. I wasn't much of a drinker but thought it would be rude to turn down. It was the weekend and I didn't have any plans so I figured why not, no harm. Me and Noel just sat on his couch talking about everything and anything, other than work related topics.
"So do you have a boyfriend or anything?" Noel asked me.
I choked a bit when Noel asked me that.
"I . . Uh no . . dont have one." I said scratching my head.
"Ah, I'm sure a smart beautiful girl like you will find someone." Noel said touching my arm.
I blushed, I couldn't understand why Noel was so interested in my life. I was just a normal woman and he was this big rockstar who had experienced so much of the world. But talking to Noel felt like talking to a friend I had known for years. It was probably one of the best nights I have had in years. Just talking, laughing, telling stories. Noel was such an amazing storyteller, exaggerating when he needed to but it was all so real.
I think I may have drunken too much that night as when I woke up, I realized I wasn't at my flat. I sat up and noticed I was still on Noel's couch. I got up to look for Noel but I didn't see him anywhere.
"He must've gone to the studio today." I thought to myself.
I grabbed my things and went back home. I'll admit it did feel a bit weird waking up in Noel's house, but I don't regret it. I slowly realized that I really enjoyed spending time with Noel outside of work duties. Although he was a lot older than me, it didn't matter, he was amazing. He was so funny, charming, and intelligent.
