Chapter-3
-Alone with Him-
Miko hopped into the passenger's seat, she put the seatbelt on Mitch looked to her and opened his mouth, but she quickly shut him off
"Look, I'm only choosing to ride with you so Five can stay with Zahra, and you and I both know this wouldn't have happened under any other reasoning" Miko explained "So let's make this easier on both of us, and just not talk the whole way."
Mitch scoffed "You've got a lot of nerve you know that?" he began "I could've just left you and Five alone!" he put the van in drive and got onto the road
Miko's face changed from annoyance to shock for a split second, Did Mitch just break character?...No... he was getting back into character, his own character, not that weird overly kind persona he had been putting on!
"Ah ha!" Miko pointed to him, "I knew the real Mitch Williams was still in there! No way you'd ever act that positive."
"What?!" Mitch shouted, his original fiery personality coming back into play
"You've been acting nice, way to nice, kissing up to people, smiling for no reason, there is no way that you we're doing that without a reason." The purple haired girl insisted "And I want to know why your doing it, to be able to get free XP for your good deeds? So you can steal from people without them knowing? What is this all for?" she acuased
Mitch looked off to the window with a scowl on his face, the ride stayed in silence, nothing but the whir of the engine for what felt to be forever, until Mitch decide to talk again
"Okay so you caught me, I have been acting like a better person than I usually do," he explained "but it's not to get whatever I want, or whatever other malicious things you think I could be doing!"
"Then why are you trying to be so friendly huh?" Miko asked crossing her arms
"I'm just trying to be a better person!" Mitch replied
"Really? You expect me to believe that?" Miko shot back "After all you did, after how you acted? Your just gonna turn your life around just like that!?"
"Why are you always acting so defensive everytime I try to talk to you?"
"Because when I don't, you try to do something that turns everyone against me!"
"I do not!"
"That time when we got stuck in that room, you managed to convince everyone I was glitch, had everyone scared of me! Do you have any idea how I felt, how terrified I was!?! I had no idea what everyone was thinking, what they we're about to do, I thought I was about to get blasted to death by everyone, and thank God Five was there! Because with how you and everyone else looked at me, I'm not entirely that wouldn't have happened! And you know what? If that was what happened, I don't even think you would have cared!" Miko crossed her arms and looked away with bitter fury in her eyes
Mitch stared at Miko with a loss for words, yikes, that was a lot of information. He had no idea she felt that way about that situation, and what she said about getting blasted with a gauntlet made Mitch feel awful, when that whole Find the Glitch situation was going on, he didn't even think that could've happened, all he was trying to do was get the last laugh, one up her, but apparently for Miko, it was more of a personal attack on her, Lord, this just turned really depressing of all sudden!
"I had no idea you felt that way about it..." Mitch replied solemnly
Miko didn't respond
"No wonder you don't like me," Mitch sighed "Miko, I'm really sorry."
"Look, You wanna know why I've been acting so out of character?" Mitch asked "Fine." he sighed,
The girl's irritated expression began to soften hearing him about to open up
"It's because I'm jealous...Of you and Five." he stuttered out nervous about what he was doing,
Miko turned her head to Mitch, confusion on her face
"Listen, everyone at HQ hates my guts, they try to avoid me, and give me mean looks when I say something, which there not wrong to do, but then when they see you and Five, everyone's happy to see you two, you all have fun together, joke around and such. Seeing how people treated me like an annoying coworker and treated you two like there best friends, made me realize something..." Mitch explained "I want to be more like you guys! Have friends, be liked, not be seen as just some griefer that everyone can't stand!" he breathed trying to calm himself of the confession
Miko looked at Mitch who was now the one avoiding eye contact with her, she looked to him with confusion and sympathy at the same time, as crazy as it sounded, Miko actually felt kind of bad for Mitch, when he first started acting all kind and bubbly Miko just thought Mitch was just trying to kiss up to her so he could get his way, but now after all he had told her, it just seemed he was just a lonely guy looking for friends, and feeling bad about things he's done in the past, it sorta reminded her of when she first moved to Bailey and how how the school kids avoided her after the Joystick Junior's Incident
"Look, I'm sorry about that whole Find the Glitch fiasco, and I'll stop with the whole cheery personality. It's not like anyone cares." Mitch sighed
the van had stopped at the location where the glitch had been located,
the two got out of the van getting ready to fight the glitch
The place they had found the glitch was in the front yard of a suburban home that looked to be having a barbucue and the glitch turned out to be relatively small as surprising as that sounded, it was a glitch from a game called 4th of July Panic, and what it looked like was a tiny firecracker with twig legs, that could leave harmless but very loud and showy fireworks and firecrackers everywhere it went, so for the most part it was a very anti climatic fight, the only really big deal about it was, was that the walking firecracker moved like a cockroach did, freakishly fast and annoying, it even died like one when Mitch had put a final shot on it, and to add even more insult to injury, there was only two bits of XP earned by it, so yeah Miko was right, all that had went down probably could have been avoided and the glitch wouldn't have really done much harm
After that, the ride was pretty quiet for the most part, the two weren't really sure what to talk about after the conversation and confessions they had, once they got to HQ they parted ways with a goodbye, Mitch went to go see Phil and help close up the store, while Miko went to go see Five, Zahra and Haneesh
