[Shouto's Shark Collection]
Two Face: okay now that we're done wrapping the presents
Two Face: I have hyperfixated again but on pokemon this time
Two Face: Who wants to guess my favorite character and why
Hearing Aid: Easy. Ash. He's died canonically seven times and likely has trauma. I bet you think he's suicidal too.
Two Face: This is why we're friends
Hearing Aid: wow that's all im good for
Two Face: no of course not
Two Face: would you like to know why I think he's suicidal now?
Electron: as a pokemon lover, i would like to yes.
Two Face: well as previously stated, ash has died seven times in canon. That being said, he likely has trauma, if not depression and likely anxiety from being like 'well what if i die and don't come back'. Not to mention that in some of the older shows, Ash displays signs of mental illness. In one episode, Pikachu's Goodbye, Ash shows that he may have minor attachment issues but also shows that's he's willing to do whatever it takes to make his friends and pokemon happy. Because of this, he tries to leave Pikachu with its own kind when they find a little bundle of them. Obviously because of plot, that doesn't work. Not to mention he gets nervous around a lot of people but tries to keep a confident face. In the episode Snow Way Out, he cries because he's freezing but his pokemon are there with him. He isn't with his friends. He never actually cries with his friends around most of the time in the older shows. He has made a lot of friends and I'm sure having to leave them all behind has taken a toll on him and his mental state because his father isn't around and abandonment issues make themselves known.
Electron: wow that's a lot
Two Face: hush im not done
Two Face: He obviously wants to be a pokemon master but there is one series where Mew is a god. I believe that Ash would get tired of dying constantly (he's only a teen and has already died seven times, wtf man) not to mention the recurring threats to him, his friends, and family. Now, to the pokemon and their relationship with ash. Ash does this thing with his Greninja in one of the series, Pokemon Legends, I do believe, though it could be Pokemon Journeys, or maybe that was when he died because he was turned to stone. This thing that he does with Greninja is called a Bond Phenomenon. Ash states that he and Greninja are always connected, even when they're apart. Greninja I believe could mess with Ash, trying to get him to bond with said pokemon, even from across the globe.
