"Not everything will go your way, but you must not leave regrets . . ."

Wang Zhoucheng's POV
"She's an assassin . . ." I stared at Haoxuan while continuing my sentence in the deadly silence of the room, "she's a damn assassin no one dares to approach, and so thus we are dumped with her, even the best agents don't even dare to glance at her, do you truly think we will get anywhere with being 'nice'?" I dramatically sighed while rolling my eyes at Hoaxuan who just shrugged his shoulders.
"I am sure she has killed more humans than we can imagine!" Hoaxuan kept calm while taking numerous sips of his coffee, and I frustratedly ruffled a hand through my hair.
"What if we let someone talk to her who knows how to play her games?" I cocked an eyebrow at Haoxuan's calm words, Lily indeed had been playing a game the whole time when we asked her questions, she was manipulative, and knew to twist the truth without lying, she was a dangerous human.
"Even if we paid a million dollars, no one would approach her, the most famous, ruthless, cold-blooded killer, she's basically the queen of all the assassins, and I don't think both you and me wanna know who gave her the bruises on her arm, after all, she's the best of the best, and if someone can give her bruises I don't know who is more dangerous. She or the person who gave her those bruises, I swear you Haoxuan if you can find someone who wanna cooperate with her you're a God," instead of answering Hoaxuan grinned, and I only felt a cold shiver running down my spine, getting myself ready for what's coming up.
"Remember my ex-boyfriend?" I frowned at his words, his ex-boyfriend that he broke up with a few months ago, why was he bringing him up?
"You mean Song Jiyang the one you broke up with a few months ago and ended up crying for weeks because he was the one in your opinion?" Haoxuan scrunched his nose at my words while I smiled, sipping my just a bit too warm tea.
"It's not about how we broke up right now, but I had asked him for advice a few days ago regarding Lily's case, and he gave me good advice I could work with, he is also a psychologist, maybe we can try to let him talk to Lily, I mean you remember how cunning Jiyang could sometimes be, I think they would be great in playing the same game . . . Wouldn't it be?" I carefully nodded at his words, letting them sink into me.
"But what if he would turn against us?" Haoxuan burst out into a light laugh, shaking his head, probably thinking I went insane, but to be honest, you would never know with a ladylike Lily, although she was in no perspective like a lady, she was dangerous, who knew if she was able to manipulate Jiyang . . .
"I promise she won't be able to do anything with him, is that good enough?" I slowly nodded, taking one more sip of my tea while sighing deeply.
"Have you found any information about Lily?" I looked at Hoaxuan who bit his lip, slowly shaking his head.
We've been trying to find any lead to her existence in this world, but nothing came out, as if she was nobody before coming here, no past, no jobs, no names, no places, no nothing.
We had never had such a task before, but the worst thing was that no one else wanted to help nor take it over because she was the most famous assassin, everyone knew her name, and when you would hurt her you would get a whole bunch of killers coming after you.
So if your life would be worth it, it was smart to never touch her or even look at her because there had been news leaked that even people died just by giving her glances, and a shiver ran down my spine at the thoughts of it.
"But why did the two of you break up anyways? You two seemed in a good relationship?" I placed my cold hands on the table while watching Haoxuan, he and Jiyang were a cute couple, but suddenly broke up without any reason, so why did Haoxuan want to let Jiyang help with this case, was it be-
"There happened to be too many things he withheld from me, secrets and stuff, we ended up in a quarrel, and that brought us up to a break from which we never recovered, I guess . . ." I stared out of the window, it was a light afternoon, and luckily my mood hadn't been taken down because of Lily yet.
We had been talking to her over the past few days, but it felt more like running in a circle, every time the answers were vague without real answers, it had worked on my nerves, but every time she would answer, 'if you learn to ask the right question, I'll be giving the right answers.'
"I think we both need a break from this case, Zhoucheng, not only for Lily but also because I've got the feeling you'll be trying to attack Lily if she continues like this. You've slight bags under your eyes, Haikuan must be worried about you, so take a break, the weekend is coming up, and then we can also check up on Xiao Zhan. we haven't talked to him or heard from him in quite a while too, but that's normal, he has grown distant after all," I nodded in agreement.
"Although Xiao Zhan is the quiet type, he hasn't contacted us in quite some days which is unlike him, don't you think?" Haoxuan shrugged with a questioning look, gulping down his coffee.
I shook the weird feeling inside my chest away, Xiao Zhan was one of our best spies, he would be careful and never get caught, what could have possibly happened to him . . . Right?
The sound of a phone going off took away my attention and Haoxuan, and I exchanged a look before Haoxuan approached the phone, he picked up, and it was quiet for a minute until I heard the sound of the telephone being cut on the other side, and the colour on Haoxuan's face was drained while he turned towards me, muttering a few words that made me give in to the fall of the cup of tea, letting it break on the ground.
"Lily is her . . ."
