Ember was holding a dance on Friday. It was an end of the year sort of thing. Jason was forcing Nico to go. It was his "way to become popular" at Ember High, as Jason said.
"Jason, noo!! Don't make me wear that." Nico complained, staring at the dark red tuxedo Jason was vigorously pointing at. The blonde sighed and pouted.
"Nico, we've gotta pick one out! You can't go to the dance in jeans and a t-shirt." Jason muttered, crossing his arms.
"Maybe I want to wear a dress?" Nico mutters. He remembers the uncomfortable airy feeling of them, and shivers. "On the other hand, they are uncomfortable as Hell. Why can't I just wear a black tuxedo? And isn't it a masquerade, so no one will even know it's me!" Nico glanced at the racks of classic tuxedos.
"Can I pick your bow tie? You can pick the tux, as long as I get to choose your tie. And you aren't allowed to see it."
Nico glances at Jason, and then sighs, giving in to the adorable puppy dog eyes.
"Fine! Fine. Go ahead and choose one, I'll pick out my suit. Just....don't make me look stupid, okay?" Nico asks, and Jason grins, racing off to the bow tie section. Nico sighs and goes through the suits again.
Without even trying one on, he chooses, and walks off to the checkout aisle, memorizing the number.
"Okay. So I need to rent number 57 on the 30th. Alright?" Nico mutters.
"Okay- Nicole!?"
His head shoots up. And he sees a face he feels like he should know.
"Uhm...It's....It's Nico now..." He whispers, and the guys grins.
"Holy crap! I didn't even know it was you! Jeez, you look awesome!"
"Uh, thanks....Who are you? I'm sorry, I don't remember you." Nico murmurs, eyes staring into the guys brown eyes.
"It's Chris! God, I remember...You were like, Percy's girlfriend, right? Well, boyfriend, now. I dated Clairesse?"
Nico's eyes widen in surprise and recognition.
"I do remember you! You were kind of crazy for a while, right?"
Chris nods, blushing. Nico grins, and Chris does too.
"Is the guy choosing your tie your date?"
Nico goes stiff with shock, shaking his head hard.
"Jason!? NO, he's my friend, he's not-"
"Chill out Nico, I'm fine with it. it's okay!" Chris grins, and then tells Nico the price for the rental, which he happily pays.
