Chapter 23: Life Gets Better

Nico di Angelo was a high schooler. Nico di Angelo was 16. Nico di Angelo was am Aquarius. 

None of that was really important, none of it mattered at all. The thing that mattered was that he was a boy. He had worked for almost a year to get there, to become one, but he was. And he loved it. There were no more catcalls after him (unless by his friends, to which he would smirk and start strutting), there were no more stupid dresses, no more awkward talks with his father about not getting pregnant. It was all good. He even had a boyfriend!

Jason was super supportive, too, whenever someone made fun of NIco, even though Jason now went to college in Indiana, the blond would make a special trip to tell the kid off. Jason had been setting up his dorm for the fall semester, so he made near weekly trips there. But, he still had time to spend with Leo and Percy, who oddly enough were also going to college in the fall, just in New York. Leo would be attending an engineering college, and Percy would be studying to become a Marine Biologist, both life long dreams of the men. 

"Nico, you're not listening!"

The almost-Senior huffed and turned to face his friends, who were piled onto his bed. Percy and Leo were spending the summer up in Michigan with them, which was amazing, and Percy had decided that everyone of Nico's friends should come and visit, have fun, play games with them. Jason was in Indiana, so Nico had to play host. 

"Sorry, I was trying to sort out my work with Mrs. Minerva. What were you saying?"

"That you needed to work less." Will walked over and fell into the black haired boys lap, arms around his neck. Will was constantly affectionate with everyone, his boyfriend didn't seem to mind. Jason thought it was cute, so Nico went with it. He held will closer. 

"Do I now? I have twenty hours of mandatory public services work, Will, and I only have two semesters to do it-"

"Neeks, summer hasn't even gotten through the first month, you don't need to be worrying about that yet!" Percy murmured,  Leo cuddled up and falling asleep on his chest. "Now is your time to relax and kick back, in the summer before my senior year all I did was eat and sleep." 

"You're not in the  honors program!" He mumbled, nose pressed against Will's scalp. The blonde was falling asleep to, Nico looked to Jake for guidance. The man laughed and lifted his boyfriend from Nico, which woke him up with a startled protest, which then woke Leo up. They both huffed, but settled in again. Lou Ellen chuckled, shaking her head, and pulled her own girlfriend closer. 

"Mira is, you don't see her running around everywhere."

"Miranda is a junior." Nico sighed and moved onto the bed, away from his computer. He pulled out his phone, checking for messages. None. 

He sighed, and leaned up against Cecil, who smiled. "How's it goin'?"

"Not well." 

Jake nodded and ruffled his hair. Cecil was also starting his final year of high school, and Will. It got a bit confusing, remembering all of what friends were where. He shook his head and closed his eyes..

"Wake me up if and when Jason gets home slash if he calls or texts me." Nico mumbled, head in Cecil's lap,and fell asleep slowly.

Nico woke up to something buzzing on his chest. He was alone, except for Percy and Leo who were cuddling on one end of the bed, while he slept on the other. He picked up the phone, rubbing his eyes. "Hello?"

"Nico!"

He winced and held the phone back. "Jason? What is it?" He mumbled, looking at  Percy and Leo. "Are you okay?"

"Yes, of course I am. Let me inside, I want to see you!'

He glanced out the window and saw Jason's blue car there. He smiled to himself and got up carefully, quietly walking through the dark house. He hung up the phone, pulling open the door. He smiled at leaning forward a little. 

"Hello good sir." Jason bowed, and Nico did as well, giggling to himself. 

"Good evening. Care to enter?"

Jason wiggled his eyebrows. "You know I do." 

Nico blushed a furious red, head down, and moved aside so Jason could walk in. He smiled and kissed Nico's hair. "Where are the devils?"

"Right here!" Percy giggled and ran down the stairs, followed by a bleary and stumbling Leo. The Latino completely ignored Jason and collapsed onto the couch, snoring in seconds. Nico took the opportunity to cuddle with his warm friend and curled up against his chest, smiling. They fell asleep, hands connected, and made the other boys in the room sigh. 

"Why did we get the cutest ones we could find?" Percy shook his head, sitting across from the two on the couch. 

"I dunno, I don't regret it though." 

"Neither do I, it's just....." Percy sighed and closed his eyes. "They get hit on by every guy...I mean, I tried taking Leo to a gay bar once, 'cause I've got a friend upstate who runs an amazing one, and Leo was immediately swarmed! I had to yank him out before someone got to adventurous!"

Jason smiled and shook his head, going to get some water. He came back and saw Leo was awake yet again, now with Percy, and Nico was staring at the blank television. Jason sat next to him, grabbing his hand and squeezing it. 

"You okya, you look upset?"

"M'Fine, just wondering where my handsome prince had run off to." He smiled and looked up at Jason, sighing pleasantly. "How in the hells did I manage to get you, Jason." He whispered, shaking his head slowly. The blonde shrugged, and then smiled sweetly and kissed him. 

'Maybe it was your looks." Percy hummed. Nico rolled his eyes and pulled back, sticking his tongue out. jason laughed good naturedly but shot a dangerous look at the black haired man, shaking his head slightly. 

So there was still a bit of tension between those two. 

Leo whined and looked at Jason. "I think it's because Nico is a fucking amazing person.' He hummed and leaned on Percy, who laughed. "Yeah, there's that." 

Jason sighed. 'I should head home soon,. Nico?" 

There was only silence, and the small rise and fall of his back. Jason smiled and picked up his light boyfriend. "I got him. Come by in the morning?" 

they nodded and smiled wider, waving him off. "get outta here Grace."

He blushed and nodded, leaving the house quickly, his boyfriend in tow. 

"Don't be so rude..."
