Ashley's P.O.V.
She nods her head and we head back into the kitchen, where Amy is pulling lasagna out of the oven, and Chris is getting plates out of the cabinet. Andy is getting silverware and Juliet is pouring drinks. We help set the table, and sit down for a quiet dinner, which is weird because dinners here are never quiet. I decide not to say anything, and continue eating. Neveah plays with her piece of food before placing her fork down and taking a deep breath.
"I'm sorry about earlier." she says while looking at her plate
Everyone stops, well except Andy.
"No we're sorry. We shouldn't of asked." Amy says with sympathy.
"No, it's okay. I'm new in your son's life, and in Ashley's and you're curious. It's natural. It's just... my life is far from a fairy tale and it's hard to talk about. I panicked, I didn't know what to say or how to say anything. I have trust issues, and... I hate pity."
I stare at my girl in awe. She is so strong.
"You don't have to share if it's hard for you. Andy explained that your life was, and continues to be very hard. We just want you to know, that if you ever need advice, from a 'parent', you can always ask us" Chris reassures her
She smiles and goes back to eating her food.
"See, I told you." I whisper in her ear.
"I'll tell them after dinner, don't want to ruin anyone's meal" she whispers back
