When Neveah sat down she sipped at her hot chocolate.
"I hope you like it, I didn't know what to get you." I tell her quickly
"It's fine, you didn't have to get me anything, but I appreciate it, thank you." she responds, her eyes gleaming, well her one eye. I wonder why her eyes are like that, it has been puzzling me since I first saw her in here last night. I thought about bringing it up, but something kept telling me to leave it alone, "You seem nervous, something on your mind?"
Don't say it, don't!
"I'm fascinated by your eyes" You idiot! Look at her face, you hurt her feelings, you should've just left it alone. But to my surprise she answered, well I don't know if she was answering me or talking to herself because it was so soft.
"They weren't always like that" she said it so quietly, almost as if it was an accident and it had just escaped.
"You don't have to tell me," I quickly interject,"They're just pretty."
"Pretty," she huffs as tears form in her eyes,"Never thought that it could be pretty. It sure wasn't pretty how it happened."
"We can change the subject if you want." I try, realizing I know absolutely nothing about this poor girl with the strange eyes who loves Batman about as much as I do, and who by the looks of it uprooted her entire life in a few days.
"No, it's fine," there's a pause as she takes a breath, "you want the truth?"
