"Really?" Nikki's voice came from the office making the group look up from where they were setting up breakfast. "You are something else, aren't you? Yeah, I would like to see you try. You can't prove anything because it isn't true. Fine, go ahead try. While you are doing that, I will make a request to see the judge in person and we can just handle it right now. Hey Olivia, would it be possible to see Judge Lake as soon as possible, please? The plaintiff's lawyer is trying to throw the case out and I need to speak to the judge about it. Thank you, Olivia. Did you hear that, Mr. Andrews? Thirty minutes in the judge's office. Yeah," she scoffed, "we'll see about that." She hung up her phone sat down in Owen's chair then groaned.
"Everything okay?" Axel asked and they walked into Owen's office.
"No," She grumbled. "Stupid people piss me off."
"But they can be a good source of entertainment at times," Luke shrugged.
"Well this isn't one of those times," she huffed as she rubbed her stomach. "My career is being threatened by an asshole."
"Really?" Owen asked.
"Don't even," she pointed her finger at him. "I have it under control." She groaned as she tried to sit up more. "Your chair is uncomfortable." She stood then placed her hands on her hips, "Anyway, I have it under control and he's about to learn not to piss me off. I have to break the bedrest rule, Sean, and go see the judge personally." He opened his mouth and she shook her head, "I will be right back either in bed or on the couch as soon as I am done."
"Okay," he nodded. "But can I come with you just to make sure you don't overdo yourself or get dizzy please?"
"You need to anyway, you have to bring my medical papers from the time I found out I was pregnant til now. All of it."
"Okay," he said then headed to his office.
"Will you eat when you get back, please?" North asked and she nodded. "Thank you."
She headed to her and got dressed then huffed as she came back into the living room, "I swear one of them is up in my freaking ribs," she said as she rubbed her chest. "Anyway, let's get this over with, Doc."
"Yes Ma'am," Sean said as he opened the door for her.
They arrived at the courthouse and as they got to the judge's office the assistant Olivia opened the door to reveal the other lawyer was already waiting on them. "What is he doing here? This is private information that is about to be discussed," he glared as Sean walked in behind Nicole.
"He is one of my doctors and is here to make sure my health remains safe," Nicole pointed out. "Besides we will not be discussing any of the client's information."
"Why are we having this meeting?" Judge Lake asked.
"Because Your Honor, I do not believe Miss Cattell's pregnancy complications are as serious as she is claiming them to be," the lawyer said. "I also want this case thrown out due to her possibly making her complications more severe than they are."
Sean had to force himself to remain seated when he heard that. "Well Miss Cattell?" Judge Lake asked. "From what I have heard, you are supposed to be on bedrest."
"Yes Your Honor, I am," Nicole nodded. "But since he is trying to affect my career I thought it would be best to be here in person to discuss this. This is extenuating circumstances and that is why I have Dr. Green with me to make sure that I am okay."
"Proceed," Judge Lake said nodding as he sat down to listen.
"This case needs to be thrown out, Your Honor," the lawyer said after clearing his throat. "Yes Miss Cattell is pregnant but as you can clearly see, she is capable of standing and presenting a case. There is no reason for her to delay the case especially since her medical records have been doctored."
"Oh they have?" Judge Lake asked.
"Yes, Your Honor, Dr. Green is her family member so he clearly tampered with her medical records to make the case last longer than it needs to be."
"Last I heard, Dr. Green and Miss Cattell have two very different last names and both are single children. Dr. Green was adopted and Miss Cattell was raised by her grandparents, so explain to me how they are family members," Judge Lake demanded.
