It's my birthday today.

Except is doesn't feel like it.

It feels just like any other day.

Long, with nothing much to look forward to.

Sure, there's the party in Toad square and the huge feast, but none of this seems enjoyable any more.

Nothing does.

I'm not sure if I'll ever get over it.

"Hi Peach!" Lavender says, coming into my room.

"Hi, I say back.

"Anyway, coming to Toad town?" Lavender asks.

"Yes," I say, following her.

We walk to Toad Town, which isn't far. We join the party.

"Hello, Peach! Happy Birthday!" Daisy says.

"Hello," I say.

"You're not still worrying, are you? How many times do I have to tell you that everything will be fine?" She says angrily.

I don't know if she'll ever understand that I'll never quite get over it.

"I'm not worrying," I tell her quickly, trying to avoid another argument.

Daisy looks at me closely.

"Alright," she says.

I'm so pleased that she's dropped it, even if it is just for now.

As we move closer towards the centre of Toad town, it gets busier and busier, and soon we cannot walk easily as so many people are there. The noise is getting unbearable. I'm not even sure if I want a party anyway. I just need to escape.

And then I get an idea.

The abandoned building site is nearby. Quickly, when no one's looking, I run towards it. Lavender and Toadlia follow me. We then hide behind a corner.

"Why did you run, Peach?" Lavender asks, puzzled.

"I needed to be somewhere quiet," I tell her.

"Ah," she says.

"Anyway, yesterday you said you thought something was in here?" I ask her.

"Oh, yes. I can still sense something," she says.

I look around. Everything is half-made, and looks quite abandoned. I wonder why.

We walk through the many unfinished rooms, and then something catches my eye.

It's a hole in the floor.

It looks quite deep as well. It's dark and I cannot see the bottom.

"What's that?" Toadlia asks.

"Lavender, are you sensing anything?" I ask.

"Yes, something is nearby," Lavender says.

"Well, I don't really want to risk jumping down that hole!" I say quickly.

Toadlia and Lavender agree with me. It's just too risky.

"I can see that you've seen it too," a voice says.

I turn around.

It's Rosalina.

"Rosalina! What are you doing here?" I ask her.

"I can see that you've discovered Lavender's power. Well done," she says.

"What... You knew all along?" I ask.

"Yes," Rosalina says.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I ask.

"I thought you should figure it out for yourself," Rosalina says.

I don't reply. I can't think of anything to say to that.

"Anyway, I thought you should know something. About these "powers"," Rosalina says.

"What is it?" I ask.

"Well, there are four different powers. The power of Air, the power of the Aura, the power of Water, and the power of Fire," Rosalina says.

I think about my power. I quickly decide that my power must be Air.

"You have the power of Air, Peach," Rosalina says.

"I thought so," I reply.

"However, Lavender has the power of the Aura," Rosalina says.

"What's that?" Toadlia asks.

"That means she can sense things in Aura waves," Rosalina says.

"That must be how she knew how to open the safe!" I say.

"Anyway, in the legends of the star people, when the four people who possess these powers join, and use their powers together, then amazing things can happen," Rosalina says.

"Amazing things? What kind of things?" I ask, thinking of Mario.

"Well, I'm not actually sure. I guess you'll just have to find out for yourself," Rosalina says.

"Well, how do we do these things?" I ask.

"Well, apparently each power has some sort of item or key connected to it. When you get all four things, and the long lost Cosmic Shard, you may open up the doors to a hidden place. Apparently a great treasure is hidden inside there. But not much is known about it, sadly," Rosalina says.

I think quickly. I can get mine and Lavender's items, but what about the other two and the Cosmic Shard? That's going to be harder.

"Where do we find the keys?" I ask.

"That's why I came here. The Aura Stone, the key for the power of the Aura, is said to be hidden on this very spot," Rosalina says.

"Wait... What if it's down this hole!" Toadlia says.

"Yeah! That must be what I'm sensing!" Lavender says.

"I am almost certain that you are right," Rosalina says.

Then Lavender stops suddenly.

"What is it?" I ask.

"The Aura waves... I'm sensing something bad. We shouldn't go down this hole," Lavender says.

"In that case, we should look for another entrance," Rosalina says.

"Rosalina, you said that there were two other powers. Who has those powers?" I ask.

"I don't know," Rosalina says.

"Please tell me. I really don't need to figure it out for myself," I say.

"I really don't know," Rosalina says.

I sigh.

Well that's not good.

"However, I think I should tell you that to access this hidden place, you need a member of the star people with you," Rosalina says.

"And that would be you, right?" I ask.

"Yes," Rosalina says.

Well, at least we've got something.

We search for another entrance, with not much luck.

Then suddenly we hear a crash.

I turn around, and soon see what's happened.

Toadlia's fallen down the hole.
