September 15, 1998 9:00 AM
I awoke to the sound of banging on the door to the apartment. I tried to move but was immediately met with shocks of pain. My blurry vision started adapting to my surroundings. There were rays of sun shining through the window. The room was in chaos. There was blood on the wall across from me. My lamp and picture shattered on the floor. My blood scattered across the hardwood floors of my apartment. I was slumped against a wall, completely unable to move. Every inch of my body screamed in pain. The banging grew more and more rapid. I mustered the little strength I had to lift my wrist to look at my watch. It was 9:00. I was supposed to meet Jill for breakfast an hour ago. I wonder if that banging was her. I was never late to our meetings. I let my left arm go limp at my side. The pain begged me to sleep.
"Jill......" I tried to call out, but it came out barely louder than a whisper. I didn't have the energy to call out. I felt myself give in to the pain as the abyss consumed me.
I woke up again. There was more banging at my door. I still couldn't move. I checked my watch again. It didn't hurt as much as before but it still hurt like hell. It read: 11:00. It looked like I blacked out again, this time for two hours. My entire body was still in intense pain. I felt I had slightly more energy. I tried to move from the wall. I tried to push through the pain to stand. My legs shook as I stumbled to my feet. I took one step and once again felt all my energy leave me. My legs gave out and I fell onto my stomach with a hard thud. I groaned as the pain was amplified by the fall.
"Jill..... help," I manage to choke out. I was still a good twenty feet from the door.
"Y/N, are you alright? We were supposed to meet three hours ago," she called through the door. I tried to respond but nothing came out. I could feel my ribs that had closed in on my lungs. I tried again.
"Jill, help," I choked out. It was quieter than the last one.
"I'll come back later," she said through the door. Her footsteps started to slightly fade. It was hard to explain this feeling I was feeling. I had a feeling that if I passed out again, I wouldn't wake up. I unfastened my watch from my left wrist. I threw my watch as hard as I could against the door. It made a large crack as the watch face shattered upon making contact with the door. I heard a sound behind it. Jill's footsteps grew louder and louder.
"Y/N, was that you? Are you ok?" she asked, sounding worried.
"Jill, help!" I said at a speaking volume by mustering all of my strength. I collapsed again. I heard the sound of the doorknob turning. The door creaked open as her footstep grew louder.
"What the hell happened here?" I heard her mutter as she saw the destroyed condition of my home. I was still conscious, but I couldn't lift my head. I heard her gasp as she ran over to me. I heard what sounded like her kneeling next to me. I felt her soft hand on my shoulder. It was amazing how much comfort that woman could bring me with a single touch.
"Y/N?! What happened?!" she asked in a panic. I couldn't respond. I tried to say something but a groan came out. I felt her flip me onto my back. I saw her. She was wearing the same outfit as last night. She also had her leather jacket on. Her jacket was halfway zipped up. The jacket was black and had a special design on the back. It said, "Let me Live" above a picture of a female Viking warrior. The woman on the jacket had black wings extending from her back that were covered with fire. She placed her right hand over her mouth as she gasped, seeing the extent of the damage. She lifted my head with her hand. I felt my vision starting to blur.
"Y/N, stay awake! We're going to get you some help," She said. The background became unfocused as all I could see was the concern on her face. She was incredibly beautiful.
