"You know what I love about this song?" Jill asked me. I was sitting on the couch with her in her dorm. Well, I guess I should start calling it our dorm. I had pretty much moved all of my stuff over and I hadn't been to my dorm in months. Right now, we were listening to music, a regular pastime of ours. We didn't have any missions at the moment so we were enjoying our day off. I had an arm wrapped around her as we listened to the music. The song playing through the speakers of her music player was, "Don't Cry" by Guns N' Roses. It was her favorite song.

"What do you love about this song?" I asked her.

"As far as love songs go, the song has a darker undertone. But despite that, it manages to end on a bright note. It shows a man who is trying to comfort his girl. Even if it ends for them, he just wants her to be happy. It also reminds me of something important to me."

"And what would that be?"

"It reminds me of... well, you. How you saved me when I couldn't save myself. How you were always there for me." I gave her a smile as I planted a kiss on her forehead. She smiled at that.

"It has some awesome guitar as well," I said. She chuckled at that.

"You can say that again," she responded. Suddenly, alarms started blaring throughout the base. Jill and I jumped up from the couch as we became alert.

"Attention all personnel, all operators are to report to the war room immediately. This is a code red. I repeat, this is a code red," a man said over the intercom of the base. The alarms continued to blare as red lights flashed in our dorm. Jill and I ran to put on our uniforms. I changed out of my flannel pants and t-shirt and grabbed my uniform out of the closet. I put on my light gray cargo pants and light gray uniform shirt. The shirt displayed the BSAA emblem on both shoulders. I buttoned up the shirt and tucked it into my pants, securing it with a belt. I put on some socks and my black combat boots. I tucked the bottom of my pant leg into my boot and laced them tightly. I grabbed one of my holsters and clipped it onto my belt over my right hip. I grabbed my 1911 out of the drawer of the large wooden desk in the dorm. I slid it into the holster, giving it a quick tug to make sure it was secured in place. I rolled up my sleeves and used the sleeve-keepers to keep them in place. I grabbed my watch off of the nightstand and fastened it to my left wrist. I looked over to Jill. She had already changed into her uniform. She wore a pair of khaki cargo pants with a two-tone blue jacket. The front was a light blue with darker blue accents running under the arms. It looked like she was wearing some kind of blue shirt underneath her jacket. She wore black combat boots. She looked great in the outfit which hugged her figure nicely. She nodded to me and we rushed out the door to the dorm. I looked down the hall to see soldiers all rushing towards the War Room. The alarms were still blaring. The red lights were still flashing in the hall. I shut the door behind us and we ran down the hall towards the War Room.

Jill had finally been cleared for duty. She had been training her ass off for months to be cleared for field duty. She had just gotten the confirmation a week ago. I trained with her sometimes. I could see she hadn't lost much of her skills in the time she had been away. Jill, Chris, and I were considered the highest-ranked operatives in the BSAA. We were often sent on missions around the globe, working with the local BSAA branch. Right now, my uniform bore the BSAA Europe patch. The base we were currently staying at was located in Austria, deep in the forest a few hours outside of Vienna. There was a massive clearing in the forest that contained the base and the airfield. The large circle that made up the clearing was surrounded by extremely dense forest. We needed secrecy in order to operate efficiently. This base had been our main base of operations for the last few years. After all, the BSAA ultimately answered to the United Nations and the European countries had the most pull in the UN. I could see the dense forest outside through the windows Jill and I ran past. O'Brian had heavily increased our military presence when he became director. He made sure we had all the resources we needed. We received more funding. That increased funding meant better training, better equipment, and better weapons. That made him alright in my book. He seemed like he genuinely cared about our mission and wanted to make sure we were ready to face what was ahead. When he took over as director, he also introduced a series of codes for various situations. A code red was one of the worst codes in the book. Well except for a code black. Hopefully, most of the men had studied the codes so they knew what was going on. A code red meant an active Bioterrorism threat. This was the first time someone had declared a code red. I looked over to Jill. She looked a little nervous, clearly grasping the severity of the situation. I knew deep down, she was excited to finally get back into the field.
