First period World Geo was hectic. I walked in and saw Maggie standing in the middle of the room with all the rest of the populars huddled around her. I sat down next to the girl who sat down next to me on the bus the other day. "Hey, I never got your name the other day," I said.
"Oh, my name's Olivia," Olivia replied, smiling.
"Hey, do you know whats going on over there? All of the popular people are acting really weird huddling around Maggie," I said.
"Oh Maggie's just blabbing to her friends about some horse show I heard she's entering," Olivia waved me off as if that wasn't the most important thing I'd heard all day.
"A horse competition? Maggie rides horses?" I asked, stunned.
"Yep. I've heard she's been riding since she was six," Olivia told me. Ms. Robison clapped her hands and announced that class was starting. Olivia went back to her seat and and Ms. Robison passed out some mapping worksheets. I finished by the end of class and waited until the bell rung. I walked into the hall and dodged from other students all the way to computers. I made it to class early and logged into the computer. I typed into the google search engine; 'horse competitions in southern southern South Carolina'. And, sure enough, I found the horse competition I heard Maggie talking about. I should enter. I'm no very good now, but I have time to get better. I thought. I logged off the website just as class started. We worked on our assignment, but all I could think about was the horse show. I went to third hour, then fourth, fifth, then sixth hour math. I sat next to Olivia, and told her about the horse show, finishing with "I'm not very good now, but I'll train hard and I'll be ready for the horse show."
"Wow," Olivia said. "Sounds like you need help."
"Really? You'll help?" I asked, my eyes full of hope.
"Sure, why not? We're friends now, so it'll be fun," Olivia said with a gleam in her eye that let me know she was in it until the end.
