I peeked at Rome from the other side of the bookshelf from the shelf I was sitting in. There was a stack of books in front of me and so I turned to him to whisper quietly with a quirky grin, "This is really boring."
Rome snickered, "You said that you like to read though, didn't you?" He was on the other side of the bookshelf whilst I was sitting in one of the small activity tables.
"I did but I like reading in my free time when I have nothing else to do. Not when I'm with an absolutely gorgeous man. Which am I supposed to focus on?"
"Neither?"
"And how do I do that? Dart from one to the other?"
"Perhaps?" Rome chuckled somewhat anxiously, "If you're so bored of this, what do you want to do? Go and karaoke?"
"Nah. There is this underground place I've heard of though and it's supposed to be pretty fun. I've heard of it from a lot of people when I started college in-person."
"You say that like you don't go in person." He commented.
"That's because I don't go in person. I'm an online student actually."
"Makes sense."
"Is it a bad thing?"
"Not at all, Elizabeth. You just work yourself raw so I assumed that you didn't go to college. I hadn't realized you had enough time."
"Oh." I laughed, "No, I absolutely don't have enough time. That's why I go to online classes, I can just take the course later."
"SHH." The librarian hushed the both of us as we faintly smiled before I hopped up from my chair to go and put each of the books back where I found them. After that, Rome helped me try and find the underground place which turned out to be an underground assortment of things. It looked more like a brothel than anything else. There were hundreds of women and men playing poker, drinking, drugs, and varieties of other things in the back rooms that clearly weren't being used.
The one thing that interested me were the dancers who glided across the floors. I could care less about anything except the dancers. They were absolutely gorgeous as the beads and laces they wore clicked and clasped as they pranced around the dance floor. I took a half step to watch them as the panels they stepped on lit up in different colors, illuminating the room.
I was absolutely mesmerized before an older woman ran up to Rome as if she knew him. She shook his hand addressing him casually and she seemed very sweet.
"Rome, it's been so long since I've last seen you. What have you been up to for the last decade? No matter, who is this lovely young girl?" The woman shook my hand as she nosed all around me, inspecting me up and down before turning to Rome, "She looks young, I thought you went for older women?"
"Oh, Ms.Percy, you misunderstand. Elizabeth isn't-me and Elizabeth aren't a couple."
"I didn't think that at all. I thought she was a hook-up. But if she isn't-" She wore a big smile on her face, "Dearie, I have a grandson and I think he'd be perfect for you. He's a gentleman too!"
"Uh-no?" I snuck another peek at the dancers before Ms.Percy realized and with a cocky grin, she turned to Rome.
"She likes my girls, Romulus."
"Oh dear." He sighed, "Granny, don't you dress her in those foolish costumes. I wasn't even the one to bring her here, she brang me."
"Then she be a fool." She said before turning back to me with an inquisitive look, "Have you deceived her in some way?"
I crossed my arms as I looked at the woman in confusion, "What is she talking about?"
