Acceptance? Or Rejection?

I started this one immediately after the other! ~Merida

~Recap~

After several moments of silence he cracks. "Yeah I like, Merida."

"W-what?" a voice stutters from behind us.

Merida's POV

"W-what?" I stutter, shocked by what Hiccup just said.

I had only come back to apologize once again to Rapunzel, when out of nowhere Hiccup says he likes me. Trust me I couldn't be happier, because I myself am just realizing I like him as well. But it's just one giant shock.

"Merida!" everyone shouts in shock, turning around to look at me.

Toothless looks between a shocked -and blushing- Hiccup, and myself. "Well, this couldn't be more awkward." Flynn coughs.

I scowl at him, suddenly forgetting about Hiccup liking me. "Can it, Flynn."

"And 'The Mean Archer' is back." he tries to joke, resulting in Rapunzel giggling.

I glare -the same one I learned from my Mother- at Flynn. He gulps, when I place my arrow in my bow, like I'm preparing to attack -which I am. "Say that again, Eugene. I dare you."

"Merida, calm down." Elsa gets up, and looks like she'll freeze me at any moment if I get out of line.

"What Snowflake said." Jack responds quickly, also standing up with a cool façade. But even when he's leaning calmly against his staff, I can see he's a little scared about what could possibly happen next.

Listen to them, archer. You were always the unstable one, always had a short temper. They'll never like you, they're just pretending. Who could like a fiery red, short tempered archer? the voice who has tormented me for weeks now sneers.

"Shut up." I hiss.

"But we didn't say anything..." Punzie trails off in confusion.

They'll never appreciate you. Just leave already! Hiccup lied. He. Will. Never. Love or like. You. Nobody will!

I drop my bow and arrow, stumbling back as I grip my hair in frustration. Lies. The voice isn't telling the truth! They're my friends, my loyal team! They'd never betray me; would they?

Jack's POV

I frown at Merida. I've never seen her like this. I wonder what's wrong?

I probably ticked her off again...somehow.

Hiccup's POV

What do I do? What do I do!

I start mentally freaking out, but I'm pretty sure I only blushed on the outside. I never should have said anything, we wouldn't be here if I had.

And they wonder why I never take the leads on things!

Rapunzel's POV

I gulp and nervously hide behind Eugene a bit. I'm not facing Mer's wrath! Then again, she'd never hurt us! Would she? Look at me! I'm doubting one of my best friends!

"Merida?" Elsa asks cautiously. "Are you okay?"

"Lies! You're lying!" Merida shouts, shaking her head as she walks away from the group.

"Merida?" I ask, moving some of my long hair out of my face.

"Shut up! 'eave me alone!" she shrieks in response, her Scottish accent plainly obvious.

I flinch, what had I ever done to anger her? I thought I was being friendly? I thought I was just being my normal self?

"Hey! Watch it Merida! There's no need to yell at Blondie!" Eugene defends me, a stern look on her face.

"You 'ave no idea what he feels! 'eave me alone! 'et out of my head!" she shrieks, before running off.

"I guess that's one way of rejection..." Hiccup trails off.

"It's okay, Hicc. Something is just off about Merida. Surely she'll be over it soon." Elsa tries to reassure him, but he just shrugs her off and climbs onto Toothless' back before he soars off.

I sigh, and sit down on a log. The last couple to become a couple is breaking apart before they were even together.

I wonder what Anna would say?

Merida's POV

I collapse into my knees, breathing heavily as my eyes snap open. "Well don't you look swell?" a terrifyingly familiar voice greets me.

"Pitch!" I gasp, looking up at him.

"Why so surprised? Its not that shocking." he replies in a bored tone, before ducking down to my level.

Before I can reply he places his hand on my head and suddenly an immense rage washes over me. But as soon as it arrived it vanished, and so did his hand.

"W-what did ya do to me?" I whisper in shock, trying to get over the flashes of rage.

"Black sand. Shocking what it can reveal if given to the proper candidate." he answers simply.

"Ya poisoned me?" I grit my teeth together in anger, my hands already forming fists.

"No. I let you see into a different light," he smirks and vanishes into a pile of black sand, but not before muttering something I almost don't catch, "which will be useful very soon."

I'm a pawn in Pitch's evil plans. But something about what he said makes me think that the countdown is coming to its very last numbers. Countdown to what, I'm not sure.

But I'm positive that it involves me.

"I can't tell the team. Not yet, at least." I mutter to myself. I can't tell the team; not until I have the information to answer their questions.

Hopefully it won't be too late by then.
