Bright Night

That day you and Papyrus had dined on your first taste of spaghetti. It was absolutely delicious compared to what you were used to and wondered if maybe one day you could try making it with the meat of a fresh hunt. That was just your thoughts though. The two of you had drove around and explored the big city some more, it was fun to see everything that could be done, the humans and monsters had made quite the life for themselves while werewolves seemed stuck in the old ways. You felt quite left behind. Eventually Papyrus had to drop you off though. "We will meet again, Papyrus. I look forward to the park and your territory." The tall Skeleton beamed. "YES, I TOO, LOOK FORWARD TO HAVING A WONDERFUL TIME AGAIN, [Y/N]! I WILL SEE YOU AGAIN!" Thus you bid your final farewells and you shifted, taking off back into the forest. On the way you rolled into some dead leaflitter and mud to wash the city scents off of you. You could only imagine the reaction if they smelled you were in the city. You made your way back home, catching a rather fat rabbit on your way back.

"How was your day [Y/N]?" You weren't expecting Kyle to be home, but you weren't upset about it. Everyone was hanging out outside, which was understandable since tomorrow was the full moon and you were all buzzing with magic and energy. "Not bad. It was a good run. Lots of beautiful scenery." You replied as you leaned against one of the huge oaks. "Oh I'm sure. Any new friends, sis?" Kyle grinned deviously. "What- no! I'm not meeting anyone in secret!" He jumped at you and you both started to wrestle, a way of bonding most young wolves did to display dominance and have fun at the same time. Sort of a beginners guide to pack hierarchy. "Sure you're not! So who is it? Someone from the pack or are you into lone wolves?" He teased as he put you into a headlock. "It's not like that!" You wiggled out of his grasp and jumped on his back. "But you did meet someone." He let himself fall back, making you jump off so you wouldn't be crushed. "That's none of your business!" You growled defensively. "As your future Beta... it kinda is." Kyle sat up, looking at you with [E/C] eyes. "But you're not Beta yet. Ha!" You ran off before he could question you more.

You didn't know how or why Kyle was on to you already, but again you found yourself scared to tell him about the monster you'd saved rather than killed. You didn't want your only outside friend(?) to die. You paced the forest, full of full moon jitters. There was most likely werewolves milling about everywhere today. You went down to check the road even though you knew Papyrus wasn't coming and paced back up. Some of the pups and juveniles were already in wolf form, running around in an attempt to burn off the full moon's affects. If only it actually worked like that. It was impossible, every wolf had tried at some point in their life or another. How did a monster survive without determination anyway? Could a being only survive off pure magic? How did they survive below the mountain? How diverse were monsters in terms of individual species? Could the monsters and the werewolves ever get along like the monsters and the humans did? You had plenty of questions you were stewing on for Papyrus to answer as he probably had plenty for you. It depended on when you could see the Skeleton again though.

When the time came and the wolf took over, you started running. That was normal, wolves loved to run. The direction you went, however, wasn't normal. You found yourself at the road, looking for a particular scent, a particular magic signature. "What are you doing?" Your ears flicked back as you were caught by your brother. "Hunting. Have to find him." He stepped closer, ears erect. "Him who?" You found the scent you were looking for and looked in that direction. "Here. This is him." Your brother came over, sniffing. His lips peeled back with distaste. "Bad smells. Crowded. Not our place." You started to trot in the direction the scent was going. "I don't care. I have questions." Brother huffed, pacing the treeline before quickly loping after you. "I won't let you go alone." You licked and nuzzled your brother happily before you both took off after the scent. You looked up at the night sky, stars twinkled above. The moon round and full, reassuring you that what you were doing was right.

The artificial lights made you and your brother uneasy about continuing. It was tight. A dog barked from one of the houses surrounding them and the city would only get tighter, but that's where the scent lead so you pushed on, keeping close to the shadows and alleyways. Brother was more reluctant than you, but he didn't want you to be alone entering the human territory. "Really tight. I don't like it." Brother growled uneasily, muscles tight and ears pinned back. You were hardly any better, your body was quivering with how tense you were. "It can't be too much further." You insisted. You could sense that you were getting close. The scent was getting stronger, he was getting closer. You rounded a corner and down the sidewalk. You and brother flinched and hid when loud, obnoxious humans and monsters stumbled out of one of the dens with bottles in hand. Another monster was quick to help them into one of the metal carriers on round paws and get in themself before the carrier sputtered awake and left. You and your brother exchanged glances before you continued on. Finally you found it. A decent sized den with light coming from the clear force openings. You howled triumphantly.
