"Hello boys, thanks for coming this fast", McGonagall greeted them and signed them to sit in front of her desk. Simon was more than a happy about it because his body felt like crumbling. Wilhelm helped him through the many stairs and even offered the levitation charm, but Simon pride was way too strong to be levitated to the office. He has two feet for Merlin's sake!

"Professor Flitwick told me about the incident, that happened between you two today. I spoke about it with our previous Headmasters because I'm not familiar with the phenomenon. And actually, Headmaster Dumbledore wanted to speak to you about this himself", McGonagall spoke and moved herself so, that the boys had direct eye contact to the painting behind her. The portrait of Albus Dumbledore looked them with kind eyes.

"Hello Wilhelm and Simon, nice to meet you both", Dumbledore started and nodded towards the boys.

"Hello Headmaster Dumbledore", they mumbled in unison, both confused and amazed about the honour to speak to one of the most appreciated and wisest wizards in the history.

"I spoke with Headmistress McGonagall about the incident and believe me or not, I actually saw the whole happening. I could sense some unique magic inside the castle, and I could not prevent my curiosity to come look. You tow have some unique magic my boys", man continued with a smile.

Simon and Wilhelm just turned to look each other. Both even more confused and at least Simon was also scared.

"I know what it was, because I have seen it couple of time before in my life. It happens when two powerful wizards' or witches' magics collide. It happens either if their magics are extremely similar and the magic kind of gets confused. It does not know in which body it should go, and it goes wild. The other possibility is, that the colliding magics are total polar opposites and they cannot deal the closeness of each other", Dumbledore explained.

Simon was completely speechless, but Wilhelm seemed to be capable to talk.

"I have read about this before, but like... Why it happened now? We have spent time together before. Why did it not happen at the first time when we met? And why it is not happening now when we are here next to each other?", Wilhelm asked.

"Boys, magic is not a stable thing. It changes every second. You learn something new or forget something old during every living second. Your magic is now not the same, that it was when you left your Houses this morning. It was just some unfortunate action that during that exact moment, your magics aligned, either being almost similar or being completely opposites. And during this moment, here in the office, they are not. Thus, you can sit next to each other without a problem", Dumbledore answered with his gentle tone.

Simon's heart dropped. Even the idea of his and Wilhelm's magic colliding due to their completely different backgrounds was unbearable to handle. He enjoyed Wille's company, and it finally felt like he had found the friend, he hadn't known he had been missing. If their magics were so different, how could they be friends? Or maybe his heart, he even hoped more, but that was not important. Wille was his friend and he did not want to lose him.

"But why Simon feels like he had been hit by train and I'm completely fine?", Wille continued his questions.

Simon literally could not understand, how the boy had so much brain activity and how he had thought about the situation so much. He had barely energy to listen.

"I don't have answer to that, but I assume the situation was much more scary to Simon than you. Simon's body went into a shock. You said you had read about it, so maybe you could handle the situation at least a little bit better. For Simon, he probably thought that you two were going to die or at least hurt yourself really badly. I'm I right my dear boy?", Dumbledore spoke and looked directly at Simon. All he could do was nod and turn his gaze to his hands.

The silence landed in the room, but Simon had one question in his mind. It required all his energy to open his mouth, but it had to be asked.

"How can we know, if our magics are similar or opposites? Like, Wille is my friend... Can it happen again if we spend time together?"

"There is no way to know Simon. Time can only tell. But remember what I said at the beginning. Your magic changes every day. At this moment you can sit there, and Wilhelm can hold your hand without a problem", Dumbledore spoke, and that made Simon look his hand. Wille really was holding his hand, but he had not even noticed before...

"But remember boys, your magic does not define you. You define your magic. Your history or background does not define you magic, but every single second toward your future does. Exactly like no-one is born as good or bad. You become good or bad that by your choices and actions. Just follow your heart and develop yourself and your magic to the way", Dumbledore said the final words and disappeared from the frame.

Boys just sat there. They were both maybe just even more confused than ever. But that was probably best answer they could get today.

"Simon and Wilhelm... I suggest you return to your Houses now and get some rest. It has been a rough day", McGonagall said with voice, that was surprisingly gentle. Simon had always seen her as a badass Lady, but at this moment she seemed more like a mother figure.

"Thank you, Headmistress", Wilhelm said. Simon just nodded. They both stood up and started to walk to the door until Wilhelm suddenly stopped and turned around.

"Headmistress, may I ask if I could start my week in Gryffindor today? It's already Thursday and I would like to stay with Simon. It has been a hard day... Also, I have hated every second being in Slytherin so I think that it will definitely not be my House", the boy explained to McGonagall.

"Yes Wilhelm, I have already delivered your belongings to the Gryffindor House. I was just waiting for you to ask. Now please just go and have some sleep. You have classes on the morning", McGonagall replied with small smile on her lips.

The statement made a smile to form on Simon's lips and he and Wille looked each other with so much relief. Neither of them wanted to stay apart at this point. They left the room with 'thank yous'.

******************************

But when the door was closed and the boys' steps faded away, McGonagall turned back to Dumbledore, who had now returned to his frame.

"Albus, why did you not tell them all that you spoke to me", she asked with confusion and even a bit annoyed. She likes to tell things the way they are, but Albus just was something different.

"Minerva my dear, they need time. They are not there yet. If I had told them, they would have panicked. They will know when the time is right. Let them find out themselves", Albus replied, smiled and disappeared again.
