Trigger warning:Mentions of slavery

Sold in chains
Eyes screaming 'I'm in pain'
But apparently the colour of your skin determines whether you're human or not
Oh it was a good fight they fought
But try as they did, they couldn't win
Because black is everyone's favourite colour until it comes to skin
Together they were sold to the white man's land
To carry out their outrageous demands
Ironic how they were in the land of milk and honey
Yet they weren't merry, cause they were dragged out of their own country
Some couldn't make it, they missed their dear home
And so passed down stories of their own
The scars on their body will forever be more than worth their weight in gold
So yes,we're descendants of slaves but not just any slaves
Slaves whose accomplishments are worth more than a treasure
Slaves who have been embedded in our rich culture
Black is and has always been the equivalent of beauty beyond measure
So I want every black person to stand up and say out loud
'I'm black and I'm proud
