From humorous jokes and daily conversations to secrets you could never tell
The first date should have had me raising an eyebrow
But that cute smile had me wrapped around your finger somehow
And that first kiss on the bridge set fireworks within me
And for a minute, a future with you was all I could see
The first fight came unexpectedly, I saw the red flags in your eyes
But I was busy trying to convince myself that all the signs were lies
I still remember the night you left, I cried myself to sleep
Hoping I'd wake up and all this would be just a dream
You were supposed to be my knight in shining armour
The one who taught me the true meaning of love
But instead you were the one who got away
The one who never intended to stay
I guess it's my fault
I ignored the sirens when I decided to hold on a little too long
You made all the rules yet in the end you broke them all
