Part 9|Under Powered

I woke up and I checked my phone and I was passed out for 2 days. Oh glory there's no sign of wondrous or my parents but I heard a little girls voice in one of the bedrooms. "Oh that's crazy!" I heard her say. This voice is one I recognized. "Who's there?" I weakly said. "Huh I think I heard my brother, one sec." I heard her say. I think she was on a call. She came into my room. "You call for me?" She said. For some reason I felt like I knew her but I didn't recognize her. "Who are you?" I asked her. "You didn't call me to just joke around did you? Ugh I don't have time for you." She said walking out. As I woke up more I felt more and more lost like I didn't know where I was. Confusion is pure as in this moment. "Gem? Gem? Are you ok" I heard a different familiar voice say? "Who.. who's that?" I asked. "It's me wondrous.." I heard her say. "Who's that? I-I don't know you" I said as I looked around my room for this voice. I saw this spirit floating above me "AM I DEAD?" I screamed. "no, your dumb you just over used your power a bit." The spirit said. "Power? What's going on??" I asked. "Oh you must've over used it that you have no memory. Don't worry it'll come back.. hopefully..." she said. "What the fuck is going on?" I asked now worried. "Like I said your memory is most likely a bit fuzzy it'll go back.. hopefully." She answered. "What do you mean hopefully? Are you not sure?" I asked. "I don't know man this never happened to my grandmother that I know about, in fact I don't know much about the book other than what she has told me which isn't much. I'm just as surprised as you." She said. "Huh?" I said

"Whatever I'll wait till your better to tell you everything" she said. "Oh glory this is bad.." I said. "Yeah it is, just lay down and try to rest and drink some water." She said. "Ok.." I replied worried and scared. I lied down and just fell asleep. When I woke up I had a really bad headache like really bad. Wondrous came up to me "feeling better?" She asked. "Yeah I remember everything but now I have a really bad headache." I said picking up water and chugging it. "Calm down bro." Wondrous said worried. "No name for the love of all that is holy, shut up I don't know what the fuck to do, in fact I don't know why your even here." I angrily said. Wondrous started hyperventilating. "Oh, ok I'm sorry." She said with tears rolling down her face. "Wait no na- I mean wondrous, I didn't mean to yell please calm down take deep breaths." I said now worried. "ITS NOT LIKE I CAN DIE FROM THIS IM FUCKING DEAD!" She yelled. "Ok I'm sorry but I don't care about dying- well I would if you were alive it's just I don't want you sad." I said. "I'll just leave. Good luck on your powers I mean it." She said phasing through the walls and out my house. "Wondrous.. I'm so sorry.." I said even though she wasn't there.

The girl I heard before was talking even louder now. I remember now she's my over bearing sister I wish she would just go but.. I need to ask her where our parents are cause I haven't seen them. I knock on her door and she opens it "what do you want-" she starts saying before I cut her off with "where's mom and dad?" "Oh um I don't know they picked me up from my friends house yesterday and left this morning but I don't know where they are." She answered. "Ok thanks anyways." I say and then walk away. Sometimes siblings aren't so bad after all. Now where's wondrous? I walked outside my house. "It's him!maybe I misjudged he seemed like a relative." I heard to my right I looked over and saw someone that i didn't recognize but the voice.. the same one I heard when walking with wondrous outside the cafe. "Why is he staring at me" I heard her say but her mouth didn't move. What is this mind Fuck-ery? "I'm sorry I didn't mean to stare.." I said. "What? Did I say that out loud? I swear I didn't." She said. Oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck maybe this is a power? I just probably made a mistake... "yea you did." I said. "Oh weird I didn't mean to haha." She said.

I just slowly walked away to go find wondrous until.. "Hey!" I heard her shout. I stopped "yes?" I asked. "I'd like to say sorry for your loss.. wondrous was my friend." She said. "It's ok.. I'm just taking a walk.. I'm sorry for how you feel about her too.." I replied. I walked away realizing that I'm looking for someone who is dead.. people are sad everywhere and.. it's my fault.. I'm the one who got the book if I never had it she would've never been able to get it and she would've never died... "hey gem" I heard a voice say behind me. "Wondrous?" I said and turned behind me. It was wondrous "I'm still a bit mad you yelled at me but I need a favor to ask you." She said. "Yea! I'll make it up to you of course." I replied. "Make me visible to her.. please" she said. "To.. who?" I asked. She pointed at the girl that had said wondrous was her friend. "Her." Wondrous said. "Ok." I said closing my eyes. I tried and opened my eyes. "Go see if it worked." I asked wondrous. "Yes yes" she said flying over. "Hey hey.. dog can you hear me?" She asked the girl but she seemed to not be able to see or hear her. "It didn't work gem.." wondrous said looking over at me.

"I don't think I can do it.. ever since I did the dream thing half awake I felt powerless but.. I do think I still have something in me.. I read her mind NOT ON PURPOSE but I did.." I said. "How'd you even make that come to fruition?" Wondrous asked me. "I- I think I was worried when I existed the cafe so maybe I did it on accident.." I said. "If you can still read minds then.. you still have the power within you.. hopefully.." she replied. "Hopefully?" I asked. "Well I'm not sure if it's possible to run out of power or over power your system but if it is.. even when my grandmother gave up her power the things she had done didn't reverse or go away.. so.." wondrous said worried. "I'm sorry what!?" I said not so happily. "I'm sorry if only I knew where my grandmas spirit was now.. we could ask." She said. "Maybe.. you can find a way to call her? Find her?" I said to wondrous. "The light.." she said. "I have been avoiding it but what I do know is that other spirits are there.. I just need to go up" she expressed. "What if you don't come back? What if it's dangerous? I'll be left on my own!" I worriedly yelled. "Only one way to find out.." she said going up. "Wondrous! Don't go!" I yelled but it was too late...
