Part 10|Progress

It's been 2 days ever since she flew up there. Remember when she complimented my hair when there was red paint in it? I dyed my hair, well part of it so I have a red stroke in my hair to give respect to her cause she may never come back.I've been going along my days trying to find a new job so I have some spending money. "Hey son come here" I heard my mom say. "Coming mom" I walked over to the living room. "I know you got fired so until you find a new job I'll pay you to do chores so u have a bit of cash on you." She said. "That's really thoughtful of you mom. how much? And how many chores?" I asked. "I'll pay you 10 dollars a week if you do the dishes every day and sweep the floors before I get home sound good?" She answered. "Yes ma'am." I said. "Good, now go to your room I want some alone time." She said. "Yea sure" I said. This interaction was weird because my mother had not been so talkative to me but it's mostly because when she's home I'd usually be at school or hanging out with friends and on a rare basis go into work to talk with my manager. So it's nice we got to talk even about the littlest thing. I stayed in my room and just played some video games to pass time.

A few hours pass by before I hear "Honey! How about you go outside hm? You've been playing video games for a while." From my mother. "Yes mom sounds like a good idea." I yell back. I get ready and head outside. I walk along the side walk and find myself at the corner store nearby. I see a mother and her kid. This kid has short brown hair that looks like he just woke up from bed and his face is just annoyed. "I'm only watching you cause your mom isn't feeling well ok?" I hear her say. Ok maybe not her kid that's not my business. I keep walking but I hear "MY DAUGHTER DIDN'T DO IT CAUSE OF ME!" It was the woman yelling. "Then why doesn't she know her own name you stupid woman?" The kid yelled back "if you really cared about your daughter you would of prevented her from doing this before she did!" He continued. "OH SHUT UP YOU DONT KNOW WHAT HAVING KIDS IS LIKE!" The woman yelled. "NO BUT I KNOW WHAT BEING A KID IS LIKE SO I KNOW ALL WE NEED IS A LITTLE SUPPORT, AND I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE LIKE AND I KNOW YOU DONT GIVE THAT SUPPORT TO EVEN YOUR DAUGHTER!" He screamed almost crying. This was a dramatic scene at a corner store but if they caught me just standing there staring I would be yelled at too so I just continued walking.

I heard a loud slap I was a few steps away but that slap was so loud it echoed. I walked back and that kid had a red mark on his face in the shape of a hand. To my knowledge this woman just slapped a boy that wasn't even her son. I angrily walked up "Did you just slap him?" I angrily asked. "That's none of your concern sir." she said. "Listen lady I don't know who you think you are slapping this child." I angrily exclaimed. "Gem leave it alone" the little boy said. "What-wha-what did you just call me?" I asked. "I said gem leave it alone!" He repeated. "Only one person calls me that." I said. "Oh there goes my cover" he said but it sounded like his voice was overlapping another. Wondrous flew out of the body. "WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU POSSESS A LITTLE BOY!?" I yelled. "Cool right?" She said. "NO, WHY!? WHY!?" I continued yelling. "Calm down I came down to talk to you but I saw this scene and decided to possess the boy before he got slapped so he didn't feel it." She answered. "That's nice but.. why save him specifically?" I asked. "Well no matter who is was I would've saved him I'm not a horrible person" she answered.

"That's a good thing but you said it like you knew him anyways." I said. "We'll kind of he's my cousin I see him every once in a while." She replied. "So were you him the entire time?" I asked. "No I just came down and decided to eavesdrop on the convo myself you were walking away so you didn't see me." She answered. "Well do you know that woman?" I asked. ".. That woman. is my mother.. she never hit me like that which is why I didn't immediately go in, I didn't know she would I just went in last second.. It's not like her so don't judge her ok?" She said. "Still why would she hit your cousin its not her responsibility." I said. "She was mad I think from what I heard.. still I know it's a bit fucked up." She replied. "ummm ANYWAYS let's stray away from that conversation.. guess who I found!" She exclaimed with excitement. She gestured someone to come over. "Meet my grandmother the previous holder of the book!" She said obviously very happy. "I don't see anyone." I say. "Ahahaha right.." she says nervously. "Will she help me figure everything out?" I ask. "Yep! She already said that your powers will in fact come back in full, in fact they might of already come back you just don't know you cause you can't control it." She answered. "Great it gives me so much closure to know that the most powerful person on earth doesn't even know how to control their power." I said sarcastically. "Hey I said might of, even though I'm not sure about your powers you have to be at one point or else chaos might be the only possibility. She replied.

"What ever I'm going home." I said to her. She starts saying "You do know I'm coming with you right? Your powers-" I cut her off saying "no. I'm taking my time to spend time with my family right now, it's the weekend and my moms off work today and I'm going to talk with her. Getting fired made me realize I spend to much time in my room not talking to my mother cause I'm either doing something for myself or writing 'the Big Mac dose not have rat feces in it.' On the stupid bird app." "But gem I-" she said before I cut her off again "that's not even my name ugh go away." She continues anyways "Please-" "I said go away." I say. "Gem your eyes!" She screams. I notice that in my rage I didn't notice my vision getting obscured by the brightness. Before I know it the brightness fades away and wondrous is gone. It didn't get dark, I didn't pass out it just came true no side effects. Oh fuck oh no what why huh how? All my thoughts clouding my brain. I made her go away which is bad but I don't pass out when I use my powers which is good but now my powers can happen just because I'm mad which is bad. This whole situation is all mixed up I can't think but at the same time all I'm doing is thinking oh shit what the fuck. I start just walking home and my brain feeling like it's melting and the cause of it melting is over loading it with thoughts. Oh no oh no oh no. I get home and just go in my room and just contemplate everything I've known. Everything feels like a spiral that won't stop spinning.
