Thyra's pov

I open my eyes and stare at the ceiling for a while. Today I'm gonna make a tail for the Night Fury. And I should give him a name perhaps.

I grab my notebook and a pencil and then run outside. I look out over the lake. The sun is already up but not very high.

'MORNING HOTHEAD!' I yell out over the lake.

Not much later, Hothead appears with his head above the surface. His mouth is stuffed with fish. He then throws them all in my way. I barely have time to dive away behind a rock and I swear that he's laughing at me. I playfully shake my head and throw one of the fish back at him but he catches it with ease.

I take a basked and stuff it full of fish till the very edge, I'm not surprised if a few will fall off. I thank Hothead and begin my walk to the arena. Halfway there, I see a young Speed-stinger. I recognize him as a new member of the pack due to the scar on his tail. He had ended up in a fight with a bigger dragon on another island so I took him with me. His pack had abandoned him but the pack here accepted him without problems.

He yelps in surprise when he sees me and within seconds he's in front of me. Staring at me with big cute eyes. He focuses on the fish I'm carrying. I throw one fish away and he quickly speeds after it.

I smile and continue my walk. When I arrive at the arena the two dragons inside are fast asleep. I open the door, remember to close it behind me, and walk closer. I stay in my spot about five feet away from the Night Fury.

Now I just wait until he wakes up. Meanwhile, I make a few sketches of him. Midnight sleepily opens her eyes and gazes at me. Then her pupils wide and she looks at the basket of fish.

Her tongue quickly moves over her snout and she looks at me expectantly. I chuckle.

'Wait till he wakes up, you can share.'

She places her ears on her neck and glares at me. I can almost hear her thinking... who are you to decline me fish.

I smirk. 'Sorry girl.'

She looks over at the sleeping Night Fury and then places her head on his head. Roaring slightly to get his attention.

It works. The Night fury opens his eyes and stares at me. His pupils get smaller in a fraction of a second and he looks up. Growling slightly.

'Hey, hey. It's alright. I got you some fish.'

I open the basket and move it toward them. He doesn't seem interested.

'Come on. You gotta eat. I don't believe my brother gave you anything so you must be hungry. Look, I get you don't like it that I lock you up but it's to keep you safe. I'll make you a new tail and you'll be able to fly but for now, just eat please?'

He slowly drifts his eyes to the fish but still refuses to eat until Midnight practically pushes the fish in his mouth. The two dragons finally start to eat.

I stand up and walk closer to his tail. Examining it carefully and making sure I don't disturb him. It seems like one side is just... missing. But that should also mean I can replace it. I just got to find the right material.

I whistle at Midnight. 'Hey, we gotta go to the market. Night Furies are famous for their speed, and for that, we need a light material if we wanna fix his tail.

She walks up and presses her head slightly against the Night Fury's one before heading off with me.

I walk back to my hut first to place my notes down. I made a sketch of the tail and the material I need. I don't know how to make sure he can control it yet but I'll figure it out. First I just got to go to an island with a market. Iron is practically everywhere but I want Gronckle iron because it's lighter. I also need a material for between the frame I'm about to make, perhaps leather? Or I could just steal it from a sail. I bet it would annoy the dragon hunters if they realize they can't use their ship because some lunatic cut their sail.
