Part 17

The next day we all went out and I was about to see Maria and Pablo again. "I'm really nervous" I said, "it's okay, they've really missed you a lot" Val replied. Then they walked up to us, "hey guys-" Maria and Pablo paused and stared at me, "Estrella!" Maria quickly hugged me. Then Pablo joined in too. "Ive missed you so much!" Maria said, "I've missed you too!"

We all sat down, "oh Estrella I have exciting news!" Maria said, "Pablo..." she said and turned to look at him. He smiled at her, "I'm pregnant!" She said, "oh my gosh! That's amazing! How many months?" I asked, "um almost 3 months" she replied, "that's so amazing. I just can't believe how much you've all grown" I smiled as I looked around the room of familiar yet different faces.

A while later we were catching up and I was just so happy. My life had fallen apart but I was able to put some of it back together. We were all going home and I was walking out with Val and Maria, "hey guys um I have something to tell you" I said, "what is it?" Val asked, "um why don't we go to my place and I'll tell you?"

We all went to my apartment, sitting in the living room. "This is a nice place" Maria said, "thanks, I have a roommate but she's not home right now" I said. "So what did you need to tell us?" Val asked, "um so last night I stayed over at Marco's place and um we kind of...slept together" "WHAT?!" Val yelled, "Oh my gosh- seriously?" Maria asked, "yeah...I feel so bad" I said as I look down, "for what?" Val asked, "well I'm kind of still with Victor" "really?! I thought you dumped that jerk" Maria said, "well we've been on and off, but I cheated on him..." "seriously he probably cheated on you so many times! Do you remember him and that girl Daniela?" "He cheated on me with Daniela?" I felt like breaking down, I know how Victor treats me. That's why I hate that I love him so much. Then Elena walked in, "hey bestie~" she said obviously drunk, "Hi Elena" I said, "oh is this your roommate?" Maria asked, "oh yeah I'm Elena, you guys were the traitors, right?" "Traitors?" Val said, "I never called you traitors! Elena called you that after I told her everything that happened!" I quickly defended myself. "So you guys wanna a alcohol?" Elena asked as she opened the fridge and got out a bottle of wine, "no, Elena" I said, "come on! You, the little one! You want one?" She asked Maria, "no I can't I'm pregnant" Maria replied, "ooh! Congrats!" She said as she almost lost her balance. "Um Estrella I should probably get going" Maria said as she got her bag and stood up, "yeah me too" Val said as she stood up as well, "okay well it was nice seeing you, bye" I said as we all walked to the door and they walked out.

I groaned after I shut the door, "what's up with you?" Elena asked as she waved around her wine glass, "I'm going to bed" I said and walked to my room. I called Victor immediately, "hello?" "Hey, um do you wanna hang out tomorrow?" I asked, "oh sure, why?" "Nothing I just need to talk to you, how about you come over to my house?" "Okay, see ya, love you" I shuttered a bit, "...i love you too."

That morning I went over to Victor's place, he opened the door, "hey Estella" he said, "hey" I said.

We sat down and I got really nervous, "so what did you wanna talk about?" He asked, "um Victor I saw Marco the other day" "oh that's nice, how is he?" He asked, "he's good, but um I- cheated on you with him..." Victor paused, "oh, Estrella look I haven't been honest with you too...like at all" Here it is, "I cheated on you multiple times throughout all the years we've been together...I just go back to you when I can't find anyone else." I froze, our whole relationship was a lie? I stood up, "um I'm gonna be late for work" "wait!" Victor grabbed me as I was halfway out the door, I turned to him. I saw his dark innocent eyes, I was sure fooled by them. "I don't ever wanna see you again" I said as sincere as I could.

I went to work and acted like nothing happened, like I was my happy-go-lucky self. I worked as a waitress at a local restaurant downtown. I was only supposed to work there until I got a scholarship for university, I definitely didn't have any money for it. But then I didn't end up getting a scholarship and have just worked here the last 9 years.

That evening after work I felt like I was gonna fall apart. I tried to keep it together the entire day. Then I got in my car and just broke. I completely shattered. I then went to Marco's place and knocked on the door as I held in my tears. He opened the door and quickly fell into his arms. He was so warm and it felt so nice to hug him again after all these years of being apart. I cried as hugged him. We went to his room and I sat on the bed crying my eyes out as I told him everything that happened. "I don't know why I feel this way, he treated me terribly! Every time we broke up I wasn't sad because I knew we would get back together, but now that I'm not gonna see him again I feel horrible!" I cried. Marco sat down next to me and held me close, "I know how you feel, it's exactly how I felt after I broke up with Cruz, I know that she treated you terribly and I still was sad when she was gone." "My dad is gonna be sad that we broke up, he's always saying it's time that I get married and start a family. I mean he's kinda right, he was 23 and already married with a kid" "yeah my parents too, i mean we're about to be 28 in a couple weeks" I looked at Marco. I've known him for so long, it's crazy how we've grown up. "It's weird I've never felt old but now Val and Diego are getting married, Maria and Pablo are having a kid, it just puts a lot of pressure" "yeah maybe we should start looking for someone." I looked at Marco again, maybe we don't have to look that far, maybe their right in front of you. What about me? I wanted to say but I just couldn't. "I'm sure you'll find someone in no time" I say instead, "I'm sure you will too, you're an amazing person." I think he's making this harder and harder on purpose. "Marco, um we never talked about what happened between us the other day" I said, "yeah..." then there was the longest silence I've ever heard. I stood up, "I think I should go" I said, "are you sure you'll be okay?" Marco asked "yeah" I hugged Marco, "thank
you"  "for what?" He asked, "everything that you've done for me."
