The sound carried through the streets. A guttural roar that came from every single member a part of the group. The message had spread quickly and every single member in the kingdom was mourning. Every color of Steve mourned as his body was carried through the Violet Kingdom by his elites. Reds, Oranges, Yellows, Greens, Blues, Indigos, and Violets. They all cried over the death of one man, who had caused their lives to change for the better. I just stood there in shock and awe as the death of a single person had affected everyone, yet I couldn't fully comprehend why. Yet I knew one thing:
I had made it out of the fight barely, but he had sacrificed himself to protect Sabre.
I don't think I'd know of any other braver thing to do for a friend. As my father had taught me when he had me take fighting lessons with our men, "To fight for your compatriot is noble. To die for your blood is true honor and love on a different scale, that most would not comprehend." From what I could tell, Light sacrificed himself to protect Sabre because he cared for him like family would. Sabre was not defined blood to Light, but he was chosen blood. It was really a touching notion, to know that somebody cared for my friend as deeply as I did. My eyes trail to my friends beside me for a brief moment.
Tewtiy stood next to me, stiff as a board as we both simply just watched. If anything, this seemed familiar to us. Especially after any member of an influential Blessed Family died. Tewtiy was probably just unknowingly channeling his inner noble, considering his stance.
A soft song starts through the streets suddenly, catching my attention as I scanned the crowd for who started it. My eyes land on the cause: Sung by a young child.
"An era of peace and solace~"
Another Steve, older than the child, but not by much from the look of it, picked up the tune. His friend beside him carrying a harmony with him and the child.
"For the land!~"
Two older Steves joined in, weaving their voices together in creating a beautiful counter melody.
"The Steves living in harmony, hand in hand!"
Bit by bit, everyone joined in; Turning what was once a dark cry of sadness and mourning, to a beautiful moment of conjoined singing. It was of a connection to each other; One I couldn't understand.
"Now with time, don't, forget the path of the day~"
All of the leaders joined in themselves, while Time Steve started singing a beautiful counter melody.
"Or fear the terrors that come at night~"
The song rose.
"Stand tall friend~"
The melody came high, bringing a sense of freedom and flying.
"Our day will come when darkness will be gone,"
Everyone's voice combined into a beautiful tone that brought me comfort.
"For terror only~"
Everyone slowly lowered their voice.
"Lasts a fleeting moment~"
The notes lingered on the wind, leaving me in chills at this feeling. This... connection. It was defined in song. It was of a hope for peaceful days, of safety from the terrors that was once in this land. It was a battle cry yet at the same time, a somber tune to honor a passed friend. It was in it's full beauty, a song of comfort and hope, an anthem, for all of these people. But even so... I couldn't fully understand it's meaning. Maybe in due time, with the more I spent among these people... I could understand its meaning.
