We told him everything.
I felt so horrible at holding the secret for so long, but I just wanted to see somebody close to me, truly happy for once. Light... Light was like a brother to me. He cared a lot and made sure I was taking care of myself. It hurt a lot to see him like how he was now.
Sabre shook his head while Time sat next to him, rubbing his back. Disbelief was just written all over the auburn haired man's face.
"So he's... gone. Truly gone." He murmurs quietly. "Yes... We've tried everything to help him but... His body is far too cold and unresponsive. We've only succeeded on healing his burn wounds and nothing else. I'm... Sorry we had to tell you at such an inopportune time, Sabre." Green Leader spoke softly, holding his hat in his hands while a sad look sat in his eyes. I quietly readjust my glasses as an excuse to look down at the ground. All this pain that you could see around the room was... disheartening.
Sabre sighs, closing his eyes.
"When's the funeral, then?" His voice is the dullest I've ever heard it been as he speaks. When I meet his eyes, a numb look sat in them. Violet leader clears his throat. "In two days at the earliest. Latest being four. Both being dependent on when we truly wanted to announce his death..." Quietly, Violet shook his head. It was quiet for a solid minute before Time let out a quiet sigh.
After a moment, a knock came from the doorway. I turn to see one of my attendants holding a note that I go to take. "Sir. From the scouts on the exploration trip in our northeastern lands." He says quietly before he walks away.
I step out of the room, just for a bit of privacy, then open the letter.
Red Leader,
Sorry for the urgent letter, but it was in my best interest to write this to you. My squad has found some ruins out in the winter lands that are written in an old language. Orange Cadet Mirius had fallen into a snowed over chasm and found the ruins in a cavern offset to it. As of this letter, the images above the old inscriptions on this wall, are of what appears to be giant Steves, as well as drained looking blue Steves? Not only that, there is a scuffed image of what we think is a Red Steve on top of one of the Giant's shoulders. Hence why I am writing to you. Whenever you have the time, please make your way out here, or send one of your eldest Reds out here.
Respectfully,
Second hand Exploration Captain, Miner.
I full on paused. There was no way. Someone had managed to record a vital part of history, from that time. Was it- could it be? I... Couldn't believe it. We had some books on those events, but not many. So not everyone outside of the Red Steves, knew. Then again, not all of us wanted to speak about... it. There was still an unspoken rule to not speak about that time, so some details had been lost to the eras.
"Well then... I guess we'll hold the funeral in three days, and make the announcement tomorrow. It should at least work out that way." I hear Violet Leader say, then hear someone come towards the door. "Uhm, Red?" I look over at Yellow Leader, then down at the letter I had been holding extremely tightly. I clear my throat, then gently fold up the letter and stick it into an inner pocket of my cloak. "Apologies, just received some important news I need to attend to after the funeral happens." Yellow Leader gives me a nod, then looks to behind him where Ysitlc stood. Both walk past me and down the hall. Maybe after the funeral... I could take Sabre with. I feel we both could use a distraction. I take a moment as one by one, my fellow leaders left Sabre's room. After Violet had nodded to me, I took a moment to step back into Sabre's room.
